My little 10 lbs dog is in pain. Sometimes when I pick him up he will yelp or when he is walking he will yelp. This started yesterday afternoon. The best guess I can come up with is that he may have jumped of the couch and hurt himself or while he was playing with my other 30lbs dog.

My wife and I checked him and we can not find anything wrong but he yelps intermittently when we touch him, but if we do the same thing again he does not yelp.

Any ideas?

I just noticed that he keeps his left ear down and shakes his head once in a while. I just finished playing catch with him and everything seems fine. I'm at a lose here.

You need to get him to a vet, could be internal injuries. Could, however, be just a sprained muscle or ligament. Still painful for him, but easily treated. However, he needs to be x-rayed to be sure, shouldn't be too costly, he is a small dog, won't require as many x-rays, and you don't need to see an emergency vet.

Sometimes when animals get hurt, they have injuries that you can't see.10 lbs is very small, and alot more fragile than a larger breed. You really need to take your dog to the vet NOW. You should have taken him, the second that it happened. If he's yelping, he's in alot of pain and there is an obvious problem. The only one who can determine what that problem is and how it should be treated, is a veterinarian. For the sake of your poor dog, please don't wait on this and let him suffer in pain. That is so unfair and cruel, to do that to him! He can't help himself, so you have to help him. I hope it's nothing serious and he's better soon. In my opinion, and if he was my dog, he would have been at the vets immediately after it happened. It just breaks my heart, to see an innocent animal in pain! It's alway's better to be safe than sorry.

Should take him to the vet. Internal bleeding is deadly if not caught soon enough. Could be a broken rib...You can't always tell there's a break by touching it... But normally, if something hurts, they'll yelp each time you touch it.

Could he be startled when you pick him up? But then again you say he does it while walking... Small dogs have small bones and they could be broken easily...

Please take the doggy to the vet. Hopefully x-rays will be cheaper for you than with my vet.

yes it's very simple it's called a vet.
It could actually be something like a pinch nerve that can actually get worse with time.
