first of all, i am really thinking of getting a tattoo and it will be my first time. i want to ask if tattoo artists would agree to do it on the back of my neck even if it was just an outline of a star (something like this:http://www.rankmytattoos.com/North_Dakota/Bismarck/2687.html) or just a bunch of small starts close together (something like this: https://www.tattoojohnny.com/download-tattoo-design.asp?sku=JPF-00451) . something like a shooting star with star dust following it. i don't want it too big. just something to remind me of my family. also, will it hurt as much if it was just an outline or something small and not much shading?

one last thing, okay this is a stupid question but im worried about my tattoo if ever i get married. i'm only 18 but im thinking ahead. if i get this on my neck i wouldnt want it to show during my wedding. can i put like make-up on it to conceal it? and will it work?

I don't see anything on that second link you posted in my browser, but it might be just me.

Tattoos are going to hurt regardless of what kind of shading you put into it. Remember, every square inch of the tattoo that you put on yourself is motorized needle that has to dig under the skin. It's a fairly painful process that usually takes some time depending on the tattoo you get, and it's especially painful on bonier parts of the body like the neck as opposed to fleshier parts like your arm or thigh. So if you're afraid of pain I'd advice against it.

And yes, you can get a tattoo in the back of your neck. You can get tattoos just about anywhere these days. I know someone who got one inside their lower lip.

The fact that you're worried about your tattoo showing at your wedding is a sign that you're self conscious about having one in public. If you have a tattoo in a prominent place, then display it with pride. If you're afraid of what people will think of you in photos or your own wedding then maybe you should consider a more discrete place to put it like on your lower back or ankle.

As for make up, I wouldn't really recommend it. The amount you have to put on to cover a tattoo would have to pretty thick and obvious to anyone that sees it. The fact that you're already wearing a wedding dress means that the makeup will probably sweat off in a matter of minutes.

Two other things you consider. One, what job do you plan on having in the future? Remember that if you plan on doing something professional that in many professions visible tattoos are frowned upon. Two, you can always cover up the back of your neck by growing your hair out.

If its just an outline with no shading it will hurt less than with shading. Depending on exactly where you want it also effects how much it will hurt.
A good rule for getting or not getting a tattoo is if you have any doubt, walk out. Save yourself a lot of grief before getting one and then maybe have to get it removed. If you decide to get one, don't worry about what others will think. Get exactly what you want, where you want. It is your decsion alone. Just be ready to live with your choice.
Make up or your hair can cover it for your wedding.
From my own experience, neck tats can be painful.
The plain outline of the pentagram would be the best one fitting your criteeria.

From a fellow girl's point of view, I understand not wanting it to show in a wedding dress. It's fine day to day, but there's something different about that day... With that said, you could wear your hair down. Or get a halter style wedding dress that ties or fastens behind your neck so that your tattoo is covered. Your veil may add another layer of protection as well. I wouldn't cover it with make-up because then you run a high risk of getting it on your dress. Good for you for thinking of the future. I'd say if that's your only concern, then go for it and good luck!

No one can tell you if it's going to hurt,
or not.
Everyone has their own threshold of
pain. Even your own body will be different. You may not mind it in one
area, but then, it may be irritating in
another.
95% of my customers say that the outline bothered them most.....after the
area gets numb, the shading, or coloring, doesn't feel bad at all.....
unless he/she doesn't know what they're doing.
There's probably something you can do so it won't be seen when that time comes.....your hair, dress, etc.

good luck and enjoy
