Here is your first life lesson about cars. All these lessons cost a buttload of money and will be repeated until you learn them.

First, *Never* buy a new car. See, you could have the same nice car you have for 4-5K if you weren't the person that took the ************. Probably the car will bring 10 at a private sale, though.

Second, *All* new cars depreciate (maybe not by that much) but at least 25% the moment you drive it off the lot. Buy a 1-2 year old car with 20K on the odo, like you have just learned...with cash.

Here's the stats on the last time I bought a new one (in '98). Ford F-150 4X4. Price:$27,315. Bought on credit. Final price :$35,643. Value at end of payments: $7,152. Do you see anything wrong with that picture?

Its a fact buying any brand new vehicle depreciation factor the first year is as high as 28% from what you paid out the door, Korean cars take a little more of a beating .

I cant figure 4K ?, unless its been in some kind of accident or shows real bad, to understand how a dealer appraises a vehicle go to this link on my website http://www.usedcartips.org/TRDE.html

Dealers are not a good place to get an appraisal. They want to buy low and sell high. I know for than 2 dozen people that own Hyundai cars and love them and have had no real problems.
Go to edmunds.com to appraise it yourself.

well unless it is a sonata or 350 it is probably not worth much more than they are offering. if it is a sonata or 350 you should be able to get 12K privatte sale. if it is one of the smaller cars (you got ripped off first of all) and they realy arent worth much more than 6K or so private sale. when you think about it you can get a used carolla for about 12K so why pay that for a accent if its a sonata you should be able to get at least 12K and you should get 7 or 8 thousand for trade. If its an accent it really only is worth 5-6 thousand trade.

Some cars hold there value better than others.Unfortunately for you Hyundai's dont hold there value. You are better off selling it privately to a first car buyer.
