I dont want this to sound like a freak question but do you feel that corporal punishment in the judges qtrs under supervision should be legal? esp young adults with petty crimes. would you administer the punishment if it were legal? Iused to be one of those punks who got away with crap and I think Id think twice if it were legal. pls law enforcement only.

Back in the 40's and 50's beat cops often administered "street justice". Encouraging trouble makers to "move along" was often left up the beat cops own devices. Most of this involved physical force, threats, and the occasional beat down with a night stick. One advantage was having a quiet neighborhood; the major disadvantage was a pretty unfair administration of justice.

Judges in those days also had a lot of latitude in how justice was administered. Physical beatings were common place in many small towns and counties. Again the advantage was quiet communities and the disadvantage was a population that lived in fear of its own police and judges.

While our present system has flaws, I would not like to see a return to those "good ole days". Force like you suggest is too easily abused.

Many moons ago I fancied myself a tough guy. One night, after a few beers, I had a fight with on acquaintance at a pool hall. The owner called the cops and we left. Oddly enough we jumped in the same car to flee the scene.

The small town fuzz was dispatched, I saw them and fled in my car. That was a good idea since in the town of 3000 everyone knew who I was, including the cop who lived 4 doors down. The chase ended when my car ran out of gas.

The police decided it would be a better idea to kick our a$ses than to arrest us. They sent us back to the pool hall to clean it and called our parents.

I am not sure if corporal punishment is the best idea but it worked for me. I stopped my semi wild ways and I was not saddled with a felony record. Which would have prevented me from working in law enforcement or entering the military.

I think corporal punishment should be administered to children and adolescents who do wrong, but at age 16 or so kids are too old to get a good *** whipping. So for younger children and teens, it's a good idea.

Penalties meted by the court are deemed valid and there is no reason to deny the execution as ordered.
