If you have a caesarian, I don't think there is any real reason to wait. If you've had a vaginal birth, you are going to want to wait until things have healed up. For me that was 2 months. By the time I had a two month old, we were both too damn tired to even consider it!
Use contraception. That might seem like a silly thing to say, but when I was in hospital I was sharing a room with a woman who was about to have her second. Her first was 10 months. Do the maths and cringe!

No. its totally up to the woman to when she feels she is ready, they do suggest that post partum bbleeding has stopped to prevent infection, but if the bleeing has ceased and the urge is there, then theres no reason no to, as long as its comfterble and at the womans pace.

My midwife actually told me, it is practice for doctors etc to say to wait to the 6 week checkup so that the women dont feel pressured to have sex... that way its totally up to them and not the husbands.

Made sense to me.

r u actually female, and have u had a baby yet? believe me, between the breastfeeding, tiredness, crying (both u & baby) plus if u had stitches, the 40 days will pass in a flash. u may end up negotiating for one more day!

there's nothing medically wrong but make sure u have gone for the first gynae check up and doc says u ok before u have sex.

I had sex 4wks after 1st baby and 5wks after second as your still bleeding for ages, it absolutely kills if you try it any sooner. Even at 4-5wks post preg. it still felt weird and uncomfotable so had to be really gentle and I didn't even last the distance, hubby finished himself! It won't feel 'right' again for at least 2-3mths afterward and even then its never the same.
I don't know what its like after having a ceaser.

They say 6 weeks, we waited 7 so the stitches could heal properly

You should refrain from sex for about 6 weeks after you have a baby because a man's penis can introduce bacteria into your uterus while it is still healing and cause infection.

if you want to get an infection or hemorrhage, GO FOR IT I ALWAYS SAY! do you mean after birth or after pregnancy??? it's after birth and the time frame is usually at your six week appointment for the above reasons.

You need to give your body time to heal properly, especially if you have healing tears or stitches....you don't want to introduce and extra bacteria to such a sensitive area. Take it easy, and give your body a break.

No. It is an individual thing if you have stitches or not and how torn you were during delivery.

IT IS BEST BECAUSE SO MUCH OF YOUR INSIDES HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALOT THAT THE TIME IS TO LET YOU, YOUR BODY GET BACK TO NORMAL. AND IF YOU GET PREGNANT TO SOUND IT COULD BE BIRTH DEFECTS
