I'm happy you care to consider other people's culture and belief, I salute you for being a modern human being with an open-mind, unlike many people who are still living in the dark ages.

As for you question, there are Muslims who do not care at all to Islamic guidelines. Maybe they are not many, but they exist.

However, If they are Muslims who truly stick to the Islamic Guides and Rules... note the following:

- They do not drink alcohol. They do not prefer to attend functions which serve alcohol.

- Meat or Chicken served must be originally killed/slaughtered in the Islamic way by a Muslim. Such kind of meat/chicken is sold in certain Islamic shops found in many places. Fish is OK.

- Pork is a big NO NO. Pig oil (I do not know what it's called) is also a big NO No.

Please check out the below link, as it might be of great assistance to you.

How strict are they? Maybe I have been lucky but most seem to appreciate the effort even if you do make an odd boo boo. I do not see why other guests should be deprived of pork and booze, just as long as the pork is pointed out to them. What would you do if you invited a Jewish family, They can not eat pork either. Sometimes a friendly by the way chat helps to sort things out. You meet them in the street talk about other things and drop that in. Are you inviting any Hindu's they can not eat beef

Finger food buffet.Easy to prepare and eat and you can have a variety of types of food to suit everybody (maybe all neighbours are not Muslim) Serve a mixture of things and put a little flag on each plate so people know what is in the dish offered.Serve both alchoholic and non alchoholic drinks so everyone is catered for.(I know Muslims who drink alchohol).

Going from experience of my muslim neighbours, I would get a large bag of cannabis tobacco, a sackfull of mc donalds takeaways, and a cask of Johnny Walkers scotch to wash it down, or you could go their way and buy a lamb and cut its throat so that it bleeds to death in agony.

Islamic family? that's a really weird thing to say you know.

Are you yourself non muslim and married to a muslim? which country are they from? First of all buy halal meta and do not buy pork or alcohol. It's difficult to suggest anything as you have provided very little in your question.
