If you are struggling with something like Lust and Masturbation and you have schosen to give up over the last 7 months but it sometime happends again you go to confession for this but this is happening to me i have been trying to stay away from this for 8 months and have failed about 4 times in the 1st 2 months and about 3 times in the last 6months and i have gone to confession and now i have failed again by somehow masturbating while i was falling asleep i was wondering would god forgive me 7 times for a mortal sin which i dont want to happend?
Because on teh net i found it says if a person keeps doing it enternal dammination is what you will face even if you confess?
Or would god forgive a mortal sin as many times as long as you try to stop doing it?

God will forgive you as many times as you seek forgiveness.

But just "being forgiven" is no way to change a habit. If you want to change the habit, you have to replace it with something else. If it's "falling asleep" that triggers masturbation for you, then you need to come up with something else to do. You could go to bed with Rosary beads in your hands, for example, and pray through the Rosary, meditating on things of the Lord. Hard to imagine wanting any sort of sexual pleasure while you are thinking about Christ being crowned with thorns, beaten, and crucified, isn't it?

Also, since you say that lust is part of this, are you picturing something in your head? Is there something triggering those images in your head like porn, racy movies/videos, certain television programs? You may have to eliminate all those things out of your "entertainment" schedule in order to not trigger the lust that is leading to the masturbation and then replace it with images that don't give you the same effect. Watch the History Channel or something.

"Or would god forgive a mortal sin as many times as long as you try to stop doing it? " - yes, He will forgive you
I know persons who struggled for years!
Now they don't have these problems any more, but that's because they didn't give up fighting sin.
When you fail, confess yourself ; confession is very, very, very important, it will help you with your struggle.

for Some Guy : your priest stoped preaching God's will, sin is always a sin !

I've had a similar story and I talked to my priest about it and laid it all out. He told me that it's something that a lot of people struggle with. He said that he doubts that this is a mortal sin in my case because the motivation is not in defiance of God, but rather simply a human weakness. I don't want to go into a lot of details. You can send me a message if you like and we can talk more.

God is ever forgiving. We must try our best to repent and not to sin again.

p/s Is masturbating considered a mortal sin?

HONESTLY. i can't believe masturbations till counts as a mortal sin.

you can NOT help it. if you do not masturabte, you will have wet dreams. it is not a sin, it is a natural part of your body's functions.

if you're really worried about going to Hell for it, look at it this way - if your heart wasn't in it, or you weren't even awake, how could it count as a sin? to sin you need to knowingly act, so I think you need to calm down and you'll be fine.

wow thanks for the play by play

ummm..Catholics believe you have to keep on being forgiven every time you sin (with the Priest's help, hence the need to become a Catholic in the first place and keep attending and following the rituals). If you think I'm way off... have you heard the Pope's recent announcement? (all other churches "lack the means of salvation")

It's a mortal sin to believe stuff just because you found it on the net.

[Edit] well, maybe not a "mortal sin", but it's pretty stupid, anyway.

Though He paid for your sins, Jesus did not eliminate your agency or personal responsibility; He will not make you clean against your will.

welcome to the glory of God -- if you are truly sorry about it and trying to stop then of course God forgives you.
