It wouldn't bother my religious beliefs one little bit. I'm open to the possibility of life on other planets. If God can make life on one planet, He can make it on another. But if the lifeforms were intelligent, I could easily see the more aggressive types of religious believers trying to proselytize them.

You can find a parallel, in the discovery of the western hemisphere by European sailors. To the Pope, that was as shocking as finding life on another planet. The Catholics took it in stride, colonized, apologized, proselytized, and began to exploit the new world.

Has anything changed with people, or the Church since then? I don't think so.

I used to know some Xtians that would say it is impossible for life to exist on other planets because then Jesus would have to be crucified again in order to save them. But the bible says he can only be crucified once. Just another hole in the judeo-christian belief structure. No doubt there is life somewhere else, it might not be like we have, but life couldn't just be in one place, that is way too superficial.

Well, they would have their own belief system, and there fore they would think they were right, and there would probably be an interstellar war between humans and this new life form and we would probably lose, and it would all be in the name of "god" or their version of it. How pathetic.
