Black widow spiders (Latrodectus mactans and Latrodectus hesperus) are found throughout the United States and southern Canada. Only the female black widow is poisonous. Female black widows are long-legged, shiny, coal-black spiders with an orange, red, or yellow shape on their underside that usually looks like an hourglass but may be another shape. Female black widows are usually about 2 in. across but may be smaller.
Black widow spiders tend to bite defensively when their webs are disturbed. Old stumps or wood piles are favorite hiding places of black widow spiders. Most bites occur in rural and suburban areas and occur between the months of April and October. Bites to babies and children may be more serious than bites to adults.
What are the signs and symptoms of a black widow spider bite?
In most cases of a black widow spider bite, symptoms consist only of:1
* Minimal to sharp pain followed by swelling and redness at the site of the bite.
* Two small fang marks like tiny red spots.
In some cases, severe symptoms appear within 30 to 60 minutes. These include:
* Muscle cramps and spasms that start near the bite and then spread and increase in severity for 6 to 12 hours.
* Chills, fever, nausea, or vomiting.
* Severe abdominal pain.
* Seizures.
* Stupor, restlessness, or shock.
* Severe high blood pressure.
What should I do if a black widow spider bites me?
If you believe you have been bitten by a black widow spider:
* Get medical help immediately. Call your health professional, hospital, or poison information center.
* Remain calm. Too much excitement or movement will increase the flow of venom into the blood.
* Apply ice to the bite area.
* Do not apply a tourniquet. It may cause more harm than benefit.
* Try to positively identify the spider or catch it to confirm its type.
How is a black widow spider bite diagnosed?
A black widow spider bite is diagnosed through a physical examination and questions about the bite. You should be prepared to describe the spider, where and when the bite took place, and what you were doing at the time. Your health professional will ask what your main symptoms are, when they began, and how they have developed, progressed, or changed since the bite.
How is it treated?
Medication to counteract black widow spider venom is available in the United States and Canada. It is usually used if you have difficulty breathing, seizures, or high blood pressure, or are pregnant.1
Treatment also includes:
* Medication for pain and spasms. Pain and spasms may be severe enough to require benzodiazepines, such as lorazepam (Ativan) or diazepam (Valium), or narcotics, such as meperidine (Demerol).
* Antihypertension medications for high blood pressure.

Getting bit by a black widow shouldn't be much of a problem. Most likely you would just have some teeth marks that would heal in a couple weeks and should be fine.
Now, if you mean a black widow SPIDER, that is a different story. Get medical help as soon as possible. (or sooner!)

If you did and the area the spider bit you at swells, becomes sore, gets puss, or starts to form an open wound. You NEED to go to the emergency room, venom is highly toxic. If you dont get Anti-venom treatments within 24 to 48 hours you may die.
And if you are worried about it, there is nothing wrong with going to the emergency room to have it checked to ease your worries. Don't worry about medical bills, your health is most important.

If you are in good health, you would experience a whole lot of pain. That is dependent on how much venom has in her venom sac which determines a wet or dry bite. It varies.
If have health defects, depending on how serious, you would die. Dont tempt fate!!!

Left untreated it could kill you regardless of your age. If you were bit, tell someone and go to the ER immediately! The sooner they can start medical treatment the better off you'll be!

You have to get treatment. The venom will stay in your skin and continue eating away at other living tissue. It grows. Let it keep eating away at your skin and it will leave a big scar. Leave it long enough, it will work its way to your heart and kill it....killing you. Go see a Doc.
