Yes, I've read actually that there are many. They still consider the religion part of their personal and cultural identity.

A person can belong to an ethnic group which is mostly made up of Jews such as Ashkenazim or Sephardi, and at the same time have the belief system of an atheist.
But in my opinion it is contradictory to say someone is an Atheist Jew. Just as it would be contradictory to say someone is a Christian Hindu.
an Atheist Ashkenazi on the other hand is quite common.

Of course, since Jewishness is an ethnic group OR a religion.
Two famous Jewish atheists I know of:
Elie Wiesel (holocaust survivor and author)
Isaac Asimov
Apparently, the Nazis knew about atheist Jews, too.

A Jew can be someone who can culturally and historically identify with the Jewish community and they can be an adherent to any religion. It can be Judaisim, Islam, Christianity, Buddhist, Humanist etc., and yes, they can be athiest. I know it is confusing, but whether or not your parents raise you in a particular religion,it does not necessarily mean you believe in it.
