okay...so various religions and civilizations have predicted the Apocolypse. The Mayan prediction is very near in 2012 i think...maybe...but the point is, say the apocolypse never comes. And all religions were wrong including Atheists...becuase eventually something will destroy us all. Then wouldn't everyone feel stupid knowing they wasted their whole lives preparing for a day that would never come??? I know it would make me a little upset, but im not going to go crazy over it. I will still belive in God, and just believe that He will come someday... your takes on it?

Apocalypse (Greek: Ἀποκάλυψις -translit. APOKALYPSIS, literally: the lifting of the veil), is a term applied to the disclosure to certain privileged persons of something hidden from the mass of humankind. Today the term is often used to mean "end of the world", which may be a shortening of the phrase apokalupsis eschaton which literally means "revelation at the end of the world".

I am Greek....again, dont speak about things you dont talk about. Apokolypsis has TWO meanings. the end of the world, and the lifting of the veil and that veil is the secret day of Jesus' Second Coming

Well, I guess this all comes down to faith. I have occasionaly thought very similar things, but I always come back to the realization that I either believe the Bible is God's Word, that God is not the author of confusion, and God does not lie; or I believe that the Bible is only half-truths and can be manipulated to mean whatever we want to turn it into.
"IF" is such a loaded word .. as evidenced by this post: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvE5QgGcHMpi2rlVp0RapuXty6IX?qid=20070808232546AAmvuOg&show=7#profile-info-cIFHR3BPaa
Apparently, Christians using the word "IF" means we don't believe ourselves, or something ..

I can't understand why people keep referring to the Mayan calendar end date of 12/21/2012 as an apocalypse - the Mayans didn't make predictions on what would happen that day; it is simply the last day on their calendar.
There are reasons to believe that something will happen on that day, however; actually, there are reasons to believe that lots of things will happen in the few years leading up to and after it. And if true, god doesn't really have anything to do with it. That date is the winter solstice of 2012, which occurs at 11:11am GMT that day. Also on or around that day, the solar system completes a 25,625-year cycle through the Milky Way, and will be passing through its equatorial plane, which may put our planet under extreme gravitational strain (which would probably look like some of the events described in the book of Revelation). It is projected that 2012 will be a bad year for solar flares, as the sun's magnetic poles reverse every 11 years, which will happen again in... 2012. If, for some reason, the Earth's poles decided to shift on us... we'd have a real bad day. Of course, all of it is one big "IF", but given that there are certain astronomical characteristics about the Mayan end date that can be confirmed, I think that is reason enough to investigate it further.
Most apocalypse stories hinge on a god and religion. As you said, eventually something will destroy us all. Maybe the sun will stop shining someday. Or maybe we'll get hit by a huge meteor. Science might be able to tell us when certain events would come... The Mayans had a religion, but they also had advanced science somehow, and the 12/21/2012 isn't part of their religion, as far as I can tell. So... maybe they had a scientific reason for believing things would end that day.
Or maybe they had a reason to believe that things would start over again...

Ok, well, according to the book of Revelation, no one knows the time or the day. So if you died today, you would never know if it really happened; you wouldnt be there to witness it if it did. The fact that something would destroy us all proves that the apocalypse will happen because it would be the end of the world. All in all, I think that if we think about putting a time and date on things will only make us doubt. I mean, the apostle Paul in his books, preached fervently to people in his time to get ready and even advised young men not to get married because the end of the world would be coming soon and God's coming was imminent. But Paul died waiting and thousands of years from then, here we are still waiting and we have faith that it will happen; and today the end is closer than ever. We have signs.

The apocalypse describes the daily battle of good and evil, it is here, all around us in all times past, present & future.
There will be a last day, when the Lord will sort out the faithful from the rest. It's not a day of destruction, but a day of rebirth. You won't wanna miss it.

I'd rather go on believing in Jesus as my Savior. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. If I'm right I'm right. If we all get knocked out of orbit by a huge meteor we'll fling into the Sun. The sun could burn out and we'll all freeze to death. Anything's possible. I'm not too worried about it.
Adios.

I think it may be have some great disaster in future.
But it is not apocolypse.
It is surely for us to die in some day.
This is important to us than guess blindly apocolypse.
So live each day of life for the value, make it benefit ourself and other.

If you depend on the Holy Spirit and learn the Bible, you will acquaint yourself to a better understanding of it.
I would tell you, read Zechariah 14. It is in very graphic detail what it will be like when Jesus returns.

When you read the Bible, it ought to change you. I hope that you are changed according to His will.

I think we should bow to the wisdom of the many, many ancients who all said the world was going to end one day. Even if it doesn't, each and every one of us will end one day. So, let's try to do some good while we're here.
