NNNNOOOOO!!!!! No matter how they beg for it, NO!!! I told my own 2 boys no from the time they were born. No bikes! :-) I'd buy them jetplanes but no bikes

I wouldn't push them into riding bikes, but if they expressed an interest, then i would let them persue it.

There is no point wrapping them up in cotton wool and not letting them do things like this. Yes they might get hurt, but they also might find something that they can really enjoy for the rest of their lives, and i would never want to rob them of that opportunity.

I would just make sure they had all the right protective gear, and make sure it was always supervised. Perhaps get them some sort of lessons.

My son turns 3 next March and he will be getting a 50cc(with training wheels and the throttle wound tight) this Christmas so he can start learning to ride safely. My husband and I enjoy dirt bike riding so it is only fair to include our son from an early age(also he loves bikes). If he decides that he does not want to ride later in life then we will not push him. If he does want to continue riding he will be attending a safe riding school/program and always have to wear the correct safety gear. Kids will get hurt no matter what so it is best to encourage their intrests and make sure they participate in whatever they do safely & correctly!

well of course it depends on the age !!
but i love motorcycles.... have actually been in a wreck and survived. Yes it can be scary . But i think yes i would allow them to. but only under certain rules... i would discourage driving it at night..and wear a helmet always !
kids have to make their own choices in life too ...and telling them no you cant have a motorcyle limits them... they cant be scared of things... so as long as the kid is understanding to how dangerous it can be...and is smart with it ...then i say yes

Not particularly, but I'm kind of uptight and overprotective some think. Personally I think I'm an intelligent responsible adult who knows how to tell children "no". Our boys have the electric minibikes which don't go very fast. Helmets are a good idea as well as medical insurance. Know the route to your nearest emergency room!

My husband grew up riding motorcycles, dirt bikes, etc. He has been hurt on them a couple of times in his teens, so I am not too keen on our son getting one, but he wants to get him a little 50cc bike to start with. I would make sure he had all the protective gear. As much as I hate the idea, we can't protect them from everything, and it is better for them to learn to ride them younger rather than older.

My kids do own motorbikes and as much as it scares me sometimes, they love them and use them all the time. I thnk that it gives them freedom and they certainly have a great time. It's their time with their dad as well which is nice for all of them. I try not to watch when they learn new tricks and freak out if they get hurt but I figure that they get hurt doing anything really and have fallen over their own feet and hurt themselves more than they have on their bikes.

I would never want my children to! But I guess it is just like a car.. I don't like the idea of my child driving a motorcycle but then I am pretty much saying I wouldn't want her driving a car, They are pretty scary though, the motorcylce!

My husband has kept his first motorcycle so that one day it might be passed down to our son. I really don't know when that day will come but it will be when I feel he is mature enough to handle the motorcycle. I'm thinking around 50,lol

no.

i don't even want my friends to own one.

even if someone is an excellent motorcycle driver it's still dangerous because there are so many idiot drivers. and you're so vunerable up there. no seat belts, just you on a bike.

AHHHHHHH

no!

i suppose that once my child is old enough to make decisions for herself i couldn't stop her. if it was a passion of hers i would encourage it and try to convince her to be safe.

but i wouldn't like it.

I think the best thing for you to do is to let them try it if the love it and want to follow on with their riding you can just find the best sort of pretection gear and make sure they wear it, oh and have ambulance cover.
