You know, it is the bill collectors like you that really make me mad. My husband almost died in a car accident, we were fine until then. Everything was paid, we did not buy things we did not need. When he got home from the hospital, that is when people like you called, day in, and day out. I was working 40+ hours a week, sometimes 6-7 days a week while he was still recovering at home. Things were alittle behind, but they were paid. Then I got a phone call from this company called Asset Acceptance. I researched this company and GUESS WHAT!!!???? They buy debts from other companies that charge off things for pennies on the dollar, and then start calling people and saying hey, you owe this and that. Well guess what, the debt was not even ours. They reported negatively on our credit report for over a year. Now according to some people, we have the right to sue the pants off these people. Did we do it? No. We just wanted it removed from our credit report. So please do remember, that maybe someone is down on their luck, or maybe something bad happened. Not all of us are like others. We want to pay our bills, loans, credit cards, etc. And remember that if you call me, and are rude, well tit for tat, you WILL GET THE SAME BACK.

People are inundated day in, day out that they have to own this or that or they are losers. Ads fill the airwaves, and product placement fills in the gaps. "you don't just want an iphone, you have to have one." Bigger and bigger cars, that cost $80 to fill up. Want a house? Here, buy it. Low interest for the first year. Of course, soon it will go up much faster than your income. Soon you will face losing it. But, hey, you get to own a house for a while. Our nation creates greed, and far to many consumers find that they are think they have to have a new car and could have gotten a much better deal buying used. The credit people talk them into it, and we who are responsible, have to pick up the slack. In my life, we skimped at the beginning. Bought a nice house, paid it off in 9 years. Now, if we need a car, we pay cash. we gave up some at the start, but now have money and assets. I owe no one anything, charge everything with cash back and pay off the bill every month. People should pay their bills, but credit should only go to those that deserve it. It would help.

I agree. ..but you seem to think that everyone with credit cards only uses them to buy all kinds of unnecessary junk. ...and you seem to think that if someone can't pay their bill in full when you demand it that they are irresponsible.
Well...here's my thoughts...
I didn't use the credit cards I had to buy unnecessary junk. I bought stuff like clothes for my sister who doesn't and can't work, a mower for my dad since neither of us could pay cash and he couldn't finance, etc. I also had to get a special one to be able to pay for major non-cosmetic dental work since I had no insurance and couldn't pay the $3,000 bill in cash. I was paying my bills, more than the minimum, each month...on time. I got sick with walking pneumonia earlier this year so I couldn't be at work every single day. I lost wages which meant that I couldn't pay everyone the full amount on time each month. Bill collectors just like you started harrassing me, treating me like I'm nothing but a criminal and was not given the option to settle the debt. I finally enrolled in credit counseling, everyone is getting paid on time and I'm not getting all stressed out about not being able to pay.
What would be nice is if you bill collectors were a bit more understanding of people's real life situations and did not treat us consumers like criminals because some of us know we owe the debt and want to pay it. Maybe instead of making demands you could offer a payment plan or suggest credit counseling. None of my creditors/bill collectors ever mentioned credit counseling so I didn't know it was available until I read it on the internet. I know it is not in your best interest to mention it since it is lower payments and lower interest therefore you end up losing money.

I agree. I get tenants that end up with problems, don't have the rent and then act like it's my fault. They break things, tear up things, ruin things and then call it normal wear and tear. Where is my deposit? Most renters think landlords are terrible but we have had so many bad renters that the good ones get punished for all of the bad. My places are nice, clean and attractive and I spend a great deal of time and money to fix them up and they just keep getting torn up. That was you calling just before I had to evict them for non payment of rent and late fees. . .We lose and they just move on. . .and on. . .they believe they are entitled. . .

Actually I agree with you on this one.
There is no one in the world responsible for peoples debt problems except the person looking back at them from the mirror.
