Traveler's cheques are outdated. If you travel to the reasonably modern countries in Asia, bring your credit card plus some cash for emergencies.
You use your credit card to withdraw (local currency) cash if/when needed at ATMs.

You can carry some cash and then some traveler's check. For your info, there are lots and lots of ATMs around cities in Asia, even in the provinces. So if you have an international card, you can withdraw with Cirrus, Visa and other ATMs around.

Bring your ATM card. It is high tech everywhere and you need not carry too much cash on you. And more efficient too.
