Hebrew scholars have known for centuries that the first 5 books of the bible were written by 4 different authors living in different periods of time centuries after the time of Moses.
If the church honestly didn't know who wrote them, why should these books be considered reliable?

I'm open to discussion but we have to accept that Moses was not the author. From studying the language used we even know in which century and country each author lived. Not to mention the fact that the last book describes Moses' death and burial.

Why does understanding/no longer understanding the author replace the credibility? the two way you're saying "have self assurance this with the aid of fact somebody wrot it an prolonged time in the past." The Bible became into assembled in the 4th century CE. The Torah (the 1st 5 books of the Bible) have been customary to be the artwork of Moses on the time and for hundreds of years later on. I additionally comprehend that a minimum of by using the Rennaissance (sixteenth century) Christians nonetheless believed that those books have been written by using Moses. i'd wager that some Jews, somewhat Orthodox ones, proceed to have self assurance those books have been written by using Moses immediately, since they nonetheless additionally carry that the international is 6000 years previous.

I think you need to change your Hebrew scholars. The first five books of the Bible (or Torah) -- also known as the Pentatuch was written / authored by Moses.

That's new to me, as far as I know The documentary hypothesis was only suggested around the 19th century.
In fact Hebrew scholars from antiquity state that Moses penned the first five books.
From Josephus, the dead sea scrolls, the mishna (early parts of the Talmud), to Targum, Midrash, and down to the middle ages.
They dissuss the same issues that are brought up in DP but they explain them in the context of Moses being the author.
Do you have any evidence to the contrary?

Brace yourself, " the church " has been lying to you all along.
Be careful though. Anyone can justify a silly position by saying " Oh, hey wait a minute, HERE's the truth! " I'd like to point out that so-called hebrew scholars still don't realize that the Messiah has come and gone. Has it occured to you that Moses' books were a compilation of other works? Jethro taught him to delegate....everything he could.
