sorry- i'm LDS but i just have to comment on what Jumpin Jiminey said about the end of revelation stating that no words are to be added to scripture etc.... that verse relates solely to the book of revelation or else how would you explain a similar verse at the end duteronomy (i think that's where it is)?
OOH! also- how can a religion that abstains from all worldly vices and follows Christ's teachings be designed to lead people astray? even if the church was wrong (It's not! but if it was...) the way in which we live must still be found pleasing unto God- we're living better & obeying God's commandments more than a lot of other people can profess.
anyway! why am i so happy?- bcos i've lived on both sides of the fence and i can't tell you what it means to me to know that i am one of God's children! Keep searching remiyu! Seek and ye shall find! and if you really want to know the truth- please!!! go to the source- you will get your answers from doing your own research of the Book of Mormon rather than from people who are determined to undermine the Gospel. Mmmwwwaaa! xxx

LOL- Yes it is a natural high if you are living with the knowledge that you are in the Lords Church and you are saved if you just follow his word and endure until the end. However you will find those who have been in the church and have for reasons that they only know have denied the church or those who are still in the church but not living the way they know they should are just as unhappy as those who never knew God at all. I think that is why we get so much flack from some on here is that they know the truth and when they deny it to them selves they then become very angry and unhappy. I feel so good about where I am with God that I have a hard time remembering being unhappy before I joined. That is the biggest reason I am on here trying to share the joy I feel from having a knowledge of Christ and his church.

We are not crazy. We always keep in mind that the Heavenly Father loves us and want us to be always happy and try to be an example for others. I'm Mormon, I'm not smiling all the time, even if I feel down or something for any personal reason, I always remember how blessed I've been and the plan of happiness and salvation and all the great things that have come to my life and that makes me smile and be kind to others and share my happiness. A good spiritual mood is much better than anything material, materialism doesn't bring true happiness.

Seriously, They are taught the walk. I know of other Christian organizations that do the same. They rely heavily upon "works" to prove themselves balanced God fearing people. I believe that the elders find it attractive to others that may want to join.
I am not saying that they are wrong by doing that, but it really has nothing to do with their trust in God, except for a few exceptions that I have met. Well . . . . one.
My pastor was a preacher's kid. And he explained that the behavior was taught to the child ( himself included) , before the genuine resolution of the kid was made to God. Everyone of them has to make the decision at some point of their life to adhere to the faith as a genuine believer regardless of their learned behavioral lessons of earlier life. Until then, they learn how to act, and just what type of thing to say, and they go through with the approval of those who are in Church with them.
Such is the way I see the Mormon behavior. It's learned and taught. They need to meet the approval of those around them and face consequences if they do not. I believe that is what you are seeing.

They are quite friendly and their church services are not really goofy or out of the ordinary from any other mainstream service. They have some different beliefs for sure but the LDS church people and services are about the same. Give them a chance and you will find them to be the same as any other Christian group in any other state (except they don't believe in drinking soda with caffeine, smoking, or drinking alcohol.

Maybe they walk in beauty each day and they feel good about life because they treat others like they want to be treated. I'm not Morman but I know a few and they will ride 50 miles on bikes just to deliever a Bible, if someone requests one.

I'm Mormon/LDS but I'm also very introverted. I don't imagine many of the people I see during the day think "Wow, that guy is happy." I am happy most of the time, I just don't show it.
Anyway, we do tend to be happy, because we focus on happy things. We are taught to spend quality time with our families and friends, read the scriptures daily, pray constantly, and spread the gospel. It's hard to not be happy while doing these things.

Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) here.
To paraphrase a scripture I love, we believe that when we are in the service of others, that we are actually in the service of God, doing His will.
Christ's message was one of love, humility and charity, and most of us do our best to live up to that example. When we do teach, we try to maintain that same spirit.
Since becoming an active member 10 months ago, my life has been radically changed by living the teachings of Jesus Christ, rather than just quoting scriptures and memorizing verses to use as weapons.
Heck, you'd smile a lot too if you felt what I feel every day. :-)

Mormons are mostly a happy bunch of people. They feel like they know what life is about and what its purpose is. Having said that, Utah does have a high rate of prescribed anti-depressant usage.
