an emotional exploitative medium designed to make you feel good and sucker people into churches?

Pentecostal/charismatic churches are masters of this craft, with all their mind numbing emotionally luring music. Plus the long time the congregation singing an endless stream of songs, with a lot of repetition of key verses/choruses combined with long services that are designed overall to wear you down to make you susceptible to their suggestions. The music is nothing but a highly organised and disciplined scam. Plus the constant turnover of new songs "(singing a "new song unto the Lord"-gosh I got sick of hearing that line peddles) that are designed so that individuals don't get desensitized to the same songs, but rather, the emotional manipulation always remains fresh.

And the moron lyrics in pentecostal/charismatic churches. Jesus ain't your saviour brothers and sisters. He's your bestest friend, your penpal, your lover, the guy you take to the prom..........

Yuk!!!!!!!!!!

And 'with unveiled faces', who made you master of the universe to say that "this isn't the place to rant?" Why isn't it? If I have been to a particular denomination for over a decade, and saw the same patterns of abuse and manipulation in one after another church, why don't I have the right to warn others? I will not keep it in my head and submit to you, O great overlord. I will use my experience and tell everyone who's prepared to listen so that they don't get burned to the ground like I did.

P.S. And 'minnetta C', you are truly welcome. You nor I are not the only ones who feel this way about this organised corruption.

You were an "ace" at describing that entire "Production". And to me, that's what it is! I Honestly felt bad because I could not enjoy their music, or The way they so-called Worship. I felt so out of PLACE. I really long for the sweet Hymns about the Blood Of Jesus.....and feeling in His Presence through out the Song, and receive such a beautiful Blessing....Plus of Course, Hear a God Anointed Message with an Alter Call. (everything is done in Decency and Order) Like Paul says in God's Word. Thank you for This question and your Opinions....I thought I was the Only One........ God Bless YOU!

I think there's a great variety of Christian music so everyone should find something that pleases them. Personally I grew up hearing the traditional songs in church and I love them all. As I became more rooted in the faith, I became a great fan of Southern Gospel music. Then as I got older, I learned to appreciate the more modern music too. I hope I can continue to embrace the new while never letting go of those wonderful old hymns I learned as a child. There's such joy in praising the Lord through songs and I think perhaps your issue may be that you aren't " a believer" so you aren't using the music to praise God. I hope you will find the Lord while there is still time. It might change the way you think about the music.

I go to an Assembly of God church, which is more charismatic. I absolutely love the music at my church, because it's so upbeat and fun. But the first thing we have to understand is that worship is not a song. It's a lifestyle. I could sing a hundred praise and worship songs to God, but if I'm not living my life for Jesus, I don't think He really cares. I'm not sure what you mean by the moronic lyrics. All of the songs we sing in church are Biblical, and many of them are by successful Christian artists (Matt Redman, Chris Tomlin, Michael W Smith, and Tim Hughes for examples).

Tomythumb, things like this need to be discussed among believers, this ranting on a public forum shows disunity in the Body. You should pray for wisdom to help someone on here. We have enough mockers. I see your point. I believe there are those who are guilty, but I have stood and felt the presence of God as I worshiped.
One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch.
BTW, are you Church of Christ?

Many new artist are no different than their worldly counterparts, true.

But there are those who are dedicated to the kingdom of God and have the Gospels best interest at heart.

Blanket statements such as the one you threw out here mostly offends the reader. We need unity in the Body, not more fighting.

I agree with you. But I also think that you are biased. (Does that make me biased, too?)The songs you consider holy are most likely just remnants from another generation. They are nice and good, but all things change with time. But yeah, the song about Jesus where they sing "..., my lover...", that is a little too much. What song was that again? It pissed my dad off too. My mom liked it though.

Also a lot of times it seems like people are just goin" to hear the band. And the cool kids stand up there and play their music while the girls look on in admiration. Just not a very "sacred" atmosphere compared to what we grew up with. That is why I left the church and converted to Islam. Very sacred. I ended up leaving that, too, though.

Anyway, the most sincere way to worship is sing what is in your heart while you are alone.

Yes, some churches manipulate people with their worship services. Boo-hoo. This isn't really the place to rant.

It seems that your problem is not with music but with a couple denominations. Leave your hate-filled words in your hate-filled head.

I did not read your whole question I did not need too. I am a christian and used to listen to the "worldly" christian music. And it is all about emotion! Satan was in charge of worship and he is getting involved without many noticing. However, if you are born again you will know which songs are anointed by the Holy Spirit!

Meditation, preachings, Yoga, much music repeated over and over, rosaries, spells, sacramental services, candle and incense burning, martial arts, dance, esoteric study, and the list goes on. All people playing on the human instrument; with no guarantee of contact with the living God that made it.

If God is honored by name he pours out his spirit on the just and unjust; so what one will benefit above another?

Worship music, is designed to give glory to God. The question is rather it is being done in sincerity or not.
