This may be a stupid question....but does my puppy know that he is full? Hes 6wks old, and feed him the exact amount the vet told us and hes on a schedule, but he licks the plate CLEAN and then sits there and cries for about 20 minutes as if he wants more....I dont give him more
but Im just wondering if he really is still hungry or if it just takes him a while to realize that he is indeed actually full.

thanks

I know he is too young, but he was taken away from his parents right after birth and all brother/sisters died, hes the only one, not my choice to remove him from his mom....it was my choice to take him and care for him

It probably takes him time to realize he is full.. Puppies can and will over eat if you let them.
Don't feed what the vet says, feed what it says on the bag.. All foods are different and the vet can't tell you how much to feed if he doesn't know the food you feed and what it says on the bag.. A cheap food you would feed like 3 x more than a good quality food.. So if say the cheap bag said 4 cups.. and the vet told you 2, he would be wrong.. You need to go by the bag.. not the vet.

Sounds like your doing fine. Perhaps you might get one of those food despensing toys, you can put some of the food in there so it slows down his eating somewhat and it keeps him occupied.

By the way my current puppy I adopted from the humane society at six weeks old (estimated), and he is well socialized (currently 5 mnths old). Only problem at that young age he did not get a chance to learn bite inhibition from his sibblings and those small teeth certainly did hurt.

Problem being... 6 weeks is MUCH to young to have a puppy, he should still be with his mom... he will have social problems later in life, and taking him to early could be the cause of this. If I were you... I'd find him a mom with a litter till he is 12 weeks old.

The puppy probably thinks the food tastes good. You shouldn't feed it more than the specific amount.

Yeah puppies are like that. So by getting him use to a schedule he will soon get use to it and not bark. What he might be doing is trying to get your attention to play or something.

some dogs would eat as long as there is food (like mine :-)) - others will even leave some in their plate. so don't worry. just stick to the amount that is recommended.
