This is no competition. The Remington 700 is a better rifle by far. I've never owned a 700 that couldn't shoot MOA and the last 2 I've owned shot under 1/2" at 100 yards. They are phenominally performing accurate rifles. The browning is going to look prettier and they'll possibly have their "boss" feature, but after owning 2, I'm unconvinced that the browning is better than the less expensive 700.
My stable of bolt action rifles include:
Remington 40X 308
Sako Mannlicher stock 7mm mag
Weatherby 257 WM - amazing rifle
Mauser 98 custom rifle in 3006
Remington 700 243
Remington 700 3006
etc
I also own a BAR and although its the best lever action out there, its not as good as a 700 in terms of accuracy.

I have a Remington 1917,it still has awesome smooth actionand accuracy.less than 2 inch groups through open sights at 150 yrds.,not to shabby for a 90 year old rifle I say,my cousin has a browning A bolt in 270 and I love it too,IMHO both rifles should give you years of reliable service I would go with the one that feels most comfortable to you.weight, length, pulls to eye,you know .

Both are great deer guns. The Browning might be just a little smoother action. My brother-in-law owned two A-bolts, a .243 n a .270. Both shot great, but not enough so to make me want to trade in my old Remington 700 in .25-06.

Of the two you mentioned, I prefer the Browning A-Bolt, I just don't trust Remington safeties. Not that I trust any safety that much, but I trust Remington safeties even less than others.
Actually, I think the Browning BLR is a better choice than either of the rifles you listed. I'm especially fond of the BLR's in .358 Win. Mine is the most accurate rifle I've ever owned.

Rugged reliability and a lifetime of service you can't go wrong with Remington. Nothing wrong with the browning but the remington has a longer proven track record.

both are really good guns. You'll pay a little more, new, for the Browning. It's hard to choose but for a classic deer gun I'd go for the Browning. If you want to deck a gun out there are a lot of options for the 700. You really can't go wrong either way.

Browning a-bolt. Very dependable more accurate.
You'll never have to buy another.

both are excellent rifles, i've owned both. the browning costs more and is a bit " elitest" in my opinion.
