No you don't have to have bridemaids. You can do whatever you want, it's your wedding anyhow. So if you don't want bridemaids then don't have them.

You don't have to have bridesmaids if you don't want them. My sister didn't have any at hers. She said she felt like she'd have to have her sisters (and there's 3 of us), plus she had 2 good friends she would've wanted to honor as well, and at that point having 5 bridesmaids for a wedding where about 70 people were invited to just seemed ridiculous. She asked my sisters and I if we would mind--and I told her I was thrilled with the notion that I didn't have to buy a dress that I would wear only once! Typically the best man and maid/matron of honor sign the marriage licence witnessing the marriage did take place (so it's legal), but my sis and her hubby simply had their fathers sign the marriage certificate, so it was no big deal.

I have only one, because I don't have many close girl friends and I wanted to have people that have been supportive of me and been true friends rather than just having people to make up numbers or look good, I asked two of my friends, one said yes and the other said no (she has 3 kids and all will be at the wedding so she wants to be able to keep an eye on them, totally understandable). You don't have to have any at all if you don't want, there is no legal requirement to have any.

It's your wedding! It should be however you want it to be! Whoever you want for you Person Of Honor, which sounds like your best guy friend, you should have! After all the Honored people usually give some sort of speech during the reception, so it should be someone that knows you and that you talk to more than just IMing.

You do not have to have any one in your wedding party at all. It is a good choice when family and friends are not going to be civil! Any one who is present at your wedding can be a witness for you. They must be of legal age is the only requirement. I love weddings where the main focus in on the Bride and Groom! What a concept!! I am a Chaplain and wedding officiate. Best wishes!!!

There is nothing wrong with haivng your bestfriend who is a guy stand up for u. People do it all the time. Its your wedding and you can do what ever you want and feel more comfortable with. There are no rules that are set in stone that you have to have a female be your maid of honor. Its your wedding do what you want no what others want you to do.
Good Luck and Congrats

you don't need bridesmaids, but its nice to have a friend to do stuff with. I have TWO maids of honour and NO brides maids, because they are both special friends.
you mentioned that you have a close guy friend? he could be your "man-of-honour", not to be confused with the groom though!!
my boyfriend will have one "groomswoman" so yes, our wedding party will be terribly off balanced and females far over-represented..any thing goes these days, the old traditions are rigid and outdated so do what makes you happy for an offbeat and memorable ceremony!!

To answer your question.. No you do not have to have brides maids or a maid/matron of honor.
All you need are 2 witnesses to sign your marriage license . One of them can be your guy friend .. So if you would like him to "stand up with you" go for it.. It is not traditional but it is acceptable.
Happy Wedding!

It's your wedding it can be as traditional or untraditional as you want it. If you don't want to have bridesmaids don't, and you can have the two guys stand in for you if you want. Maybe just have them already there( at the altar or whatever) instead of them having to walk down the aisle

You do not have to have bridesmaids.
You don't have to have a wedding cake
Just a licence.. a minister or justice of the peace... and 2 witnesses.
(don't forget the 2 people who are getting married...)
5 minutes... its done.

You don't have to have anyone stand up with you. The only people there that are needed are; bride, groom, officiant, two witnesses.
