I put it in, and it can't read the Thai card or get a signal, the card is good. I know the American phone companies sabotage the phones you buy so you can only use their sim cards unless you enter a code, where do I do that? I'm in Chiang Mai.

You can unlock your Blacberry phone but like alot of the new sony phones it aint as easy as goin to MBK to get it unlocked. I mean this can be done but they will need to send it away and it will take a few days also costing you a few thousand baht. I recommend just buying a cheap mobile out there and using that for your trip.

Very few phones sold in the US are unlocked and you will need to unlock the phone before you will be able to use it here in Thailand. Usually unlocking a phone can be as easy as entering an unlocking code into the keypad. You can check online, as there are many online companies that will sell you the codes at a nominal price. An independent phone shop, like many of the ones at the MBK shopping mall here in Bangkok may also be able to unlock the phone for you. I wouldn't contact T-mobile for this, as they probably will be of little or no assistance to you without some exorbitant fee, after the phone is unlocked you should be able to use it with any sim card including the T-mobile sim card. Good luck.

It's simple. All you have to do is call T-Mobile and tell them that you are going overseas and would like your phone to be unlocked so you could use a different sim card. If they tell you that they have an international plan...just refuse it and say you'd rather just get it unlocked and would like the code as it would be cheaper to just buy a new sim card in Thailand. They should then email you the code and the instructions. Trust me..i did this last year when I went to the Philippines

This will be difficult for you as you are using an unpopular brand in Thailand. The local telco shops will not be able to help unlock your phone too. And you need a program, not just a code. What you can do is to use another phone, either rent or buy a cheap one, or call your T-Mobile to activate auto-roaming service for you to use your phone while in Thailand.

Meantime, look to sell or pass over your Sim card to someone else to use.
