How long ago was this. You have to be careful with rear end accidents. Drivers sometimes obtain info and tell you not to worry about it, then report you as a hit and run to your insurance company with neck injuries. I hope this was an honest person. A bumper costs in the area of 200 to 300. Depending on age and type of vehicle.

If you don't pay him he will turn it into your insurance and they will have to pay. If you don't have insurance he can sue you. It doesn't matter if he doesn't have your insurance info. If you don't pay him he can turn you into the police and THEY will get your info from you. Also, just because there is only a light scratch on his bumper doesn't mean that there isn't more damage underneath. A friend of mine was rear-ended and her bumper looked fine, but there was about $2,000 worth of damage that couldn't be seen until the bumper was checked fully. I would at least get a waiver form and have him sign it before he decides to take the car in for inspection, then you are not liable for damages if it IS more than a scratch.

I had an accident like this once and I paid to have the guy's bumper fixed instead of him getting a whole new one, BUT had my insurance broker the deal.
PS I didn't hit him from behind, but clipped the driver side of his rear bumper as I pulled out while he was moving swiftly from lane one to lane three. (MY Lesson: be doubly careful on one way streets)

If you don't pay him now,it will cost you a lot more later after the law, and the lawyers, get done with you.
Whatever it costs, paying now is CHEAP.

WAIT TILL HE CALLS YOU OR WAIT TILL YOU GET THE PAPERWORK FROM THE COURTHOUSE TO APPEAR IN A CIVIL LAW SUIT.

YOU SHOULD TRY AND CONTACT HIM AND GET THIS CLEARED UP ASAP.

TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN QUICKER CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND GET THEM INVOLVED.

depends on where you are...

in texas, he could take you to small claims court if you don't pay or have liability insurance. if you still don't pay, your license may be suspended/revoked.
