I've notice the majority of the answerers either defend the church's position with either a 'fear' of an agenda, vague scripture, or offer homophobic responses.
This church is irresponsible and detrimental to civilized society. I can only hope for a mormon Diaspora.

You already know the LDS, Christian, Islamic, and Jewish view on this, but let me put that view in another light:
"Mormons, do you really believe it's good for gamblers to repress their urges and stop wasting money?"
"Mormons, do you really believe it's good for alcoholics to repress their desire to drink, in order to live longer, be better parents and neighbors, and have a better quality of life?"
Whether gay or straight, when pleasure completely replaces procreation in a relationship, then the person is denying the worth of God's greatest gift: the ability to create human life. That took me a long time to understand, as I fell in that category for a long time. A lot of other great stuff comes with keeping the correct focus.
I have nothing at all against GLBT people and have 2 as friends, but it does lead you away from a closer relationship with Christ and from understanding why it is so special to be a child of God, but remember: persecution and hellfire preaching doesn't help anyone's cause.

Not necessarily. We believe that God ordained marriage to be between men and women. If someone is gay in the Mormon faith, then they are encouraged to suppress their feelings in whatever way they can. They may never marry at all because they really aren't attracted to people of the opposite sex. We definitely don't encourage people to enter into a marriage that will make them unhappy and miserable.

Why is this being addressed to Mormons? Besides, the gays are trying to make it a criminal offense to even answer yes to a question such as this. It could soon become "hate speech" under penalty of a prison term, especially if a Democrat gets elected.
The Homosexual Agenda is on the march to remove Freedom of Speech and a Democrat will support this. The entire Bill of Rights could be at stake, and it could become suspended.

Well, I personally believe that no person "is gay"...I believe those tendancies are temptations. Just like an alcoholic trying to give up drinking or a smoker trying to quit, a person that has homosexual feelings can overcome it if they truly want to and IF they seek for help from the correct sources. Just about anyone can change and repent...I say just about anyone because of big things such as murder and rape..I don't know about that...
I believe it's good for people to repent of their sins and live the best life they can, whatever their sins may be.
What a great answer SirNetwork.

I believe that Evangelicals and some other forms of Christianity believe the same thing. So don't just pick on Mormons. :)

Absolutely not! I've seen it happen many times and is a disaster! The gay one usually acts on it eventually. I think they should not marry. Causes too much pain.

I really like SirNetwork's answer.
To add, they don't have to get married and have kids. They can lead a celibate life and enjoy all the blessings of the gospel. Their marriage can be taken care of in the millenium.

I don't think evangelical protestants feel that homosexuality is a blessing either? Do you?
