In the old days, when you play video games, you risk the chance of burn-in images. This was especially true when you play games on a projection screen. The image sticks on the screen and there's no way to remove it. Games like Pac-Man on the Atari 2600 usually left images on the screen because the maze never changes.

With the current technology, there is a very slim chance of any burn in images. Basically, the TV should shift the images a little bit at a time to prevent the image from burning.

As long as you don't leave the screen on pause for a long period of time or leave the game unattended for a long time, there's a very slim chance that you'll get burn-in images. With today's games, the game world never really stays the same so it's hard for any image to burn onto the screen.

Have The Same Problem.. At My Aunt She Has A Plasma TV And I Always Play My PS2 There. If You Leave Your Play Station On And The TV At The Same Time & If Uou Leave It Eventually The Image You See On The Screen Will Be Permanentely Burned Into The Screen. Thats The Reason She Wants You To Play With The PS2 On The Cheap TV. To Prevent That From happening Just Turn The TV Off When You Going to leave the Room So you Dont Wreck The TV.

Like Reggieman said, it has little to do with the type of signal you're watching. Whether it's cable, satellite, a gaming system or a DVD player, the only thing that will actually harm the set is a still picture being displayed for extended periods of time. Gaming consoles are commonly singled out because of things like health bars and onscreen menus which remain fixed on the screen, but sports game scoreboards, news tickers and such can have the same effect.

Check to see if your plasma has a "game mode." If it does, then it shouldn't and won't damage the screen b/c the settings on that channel specifically for the game. Many new TV's have game modes.

Note that LCD TV's are the only sets that you don't have to worry about gaming on.

Nothing should happen as long as you dont leave it paused for a really long time....or leave it in a position where nothing is moving on screen in any certain spots...

if you do that, it can burn the image into the tv, but it would still take a long time.
