The teaching of Futurism has been widely accepted by Protestant churches. This happened around the 1800-1900's- How is it that these Protestant churches have forgotten why the martyrs for Jesus Christ died ? Why have they forgotten at WHOSE hand the martyrs died??

that_guy_ drew-- You are right about Revelations-- much is yet to be fulfilled--
btw- I am not catholic-- but as a Christian I am questioning how Protestants could turn away from the original teachings of their churches..??
The very things that set them apart from the catholics.. they left in just enough truth for justification ...

Who killed the martyrs for Jesus? Before the governmental Roman Catholic Church, there were the Jewish authorities and the Pagans. After that in Europe, it was the Roman Catholic Church and it's 'Inquisitions'.

Are we to adopt everything that the Roman Catholic Church (the organization thereof) ordained including the denial that they are the Harlot woman in the Book of Revelation?

I would be overjoyed to know how what we believe interferes with that monumental political organization by what we believe. Because we do the same thing that Jesus told us to do, point to Christ, while the Roman Catholic Church points to the 'Church' as the source of salvation.

Whatever are we to do with you? Can we claim what we think without being referred to as Heretics? When we point to Jesus as the one mediator between man and God, we are told that we are wrong by the Roman Catholic Church! They have set Mary in the place of Christ, and the Church in the place of Christ! Where do they begin to adhere to what the scriptures say? And how is it our fault that their pagan based belief system is more important than the words of Our Lord in Heaven?! More important than the scriptures?! I think not!

So allow us our little confusion, PLEASE! Be amused at our apparent squandered belief! For we have within our hearts the love of God along with the increasing of knowledge that may just defy the centuries of TRADITION as the scripture says!

I have a lot of respect for the RCC and agree with the better part of their teachings. I have put a LOT of thought into joining. As an Orthodox Lutheran, I often defend many Roman Catholic practices and beliefs on this site (the Real Presence, confession and absolution, etc), because I share some of those beliefs and practices, and know how to back them with Scripture. I also tend to agree that threre is a fullness in the RCC that is not there in other denominations, simply because the historical litrugy is recited during every service. This is vital to the Christian faith. Still, there are some very strong disagreements. The leaders of our two groups have been meeting together for nearly five hundred years in an effort to try to work these things out, but it doesn't seem like it will happen. We've gained mutual respect, but I don't think there's much more that can be done. If they would drop all the pride and get real about history (ie, ''we can never possibly make any mistakes whatsoever, because we are the one true Church''), it would impress me. However, when the RCC continually and willingly lies about the past, I tend to be a little bit hesitant about surrendering my life and everything in it to them. Peace, Drew

futurism...

i think you're talking about the interpretation of the book of revelation, yeah? i personally don't know how anyone could read the book of revelation and have any other understanding of it other than to think that the prophecy has not yet been fulfilled. you call out protestant churches, which leads me to believe that you're catholic. i've heard that the catholic tradition teaches that everything in revelation has already happened, but i don't know how that is justified. we're definitely not a part of the new earth. all of these catostrophies have not yet happened. to my knowledge, the population has never decreased to 144,000. then there's the fact that in one of the creeds, either the apostles' creed or the nicene creed, there's the phrase ''and He will come again to judge both the living and the dead.'' i hear catholics say sometimes that they don't believe in the end times prophecy, and it makes me scratch my head and think, ''well, then what do you confess every sunday in mass?'' maybe i'm wrong. maybe you're referring to something different, but this is the closest thing i could think of. i even tried to look it up on a website that can answer every question i've ever had about christianity, and when i typed ''futurism'' into the search bar, nothing came up. i'm sorry, but next time you'll have to be a little bit more specific about what you mean. it seems to me that noone else understands the term you used.

Well, depends on the eschatological bent you are referring to exactly.Prophecies are being fulfilled daily with regards to the Last Days, yet that doesn't mean I'm in the futurist camp.Preterism is just as flawed as futurism. Both are boxing themselves into a corner by using eisegesis instead of proper exegetical hermeneutics. For example, all 70 Weeks of Daniel are in the past. But Preterists fail to see the prophecies dealing explicitly with our generation as the Futurists[like the Pretribbers]do.The culprit is pop-prophecy.It started with Darby and Scofield and ramped up with Hal Lindsey in the early 1970's.We are indeed at the very end of the Age.But one must study God's Word alone without the editorializing by so-called experts setting dates and attempting to identify the Antichrist. The signs are all here.A One World Government[U.N.].A One World Religion[New Age Spirituality that fuses all religions together syncretically].Galaxies colliding into one another.Diseases, wars, record earthquakes and volcanoes.Yep,the 2nd Coming is near!
