You know, trout, My friend and I have discussed these very points many times. It does seem as though God will smite you down along with your whole village if you make Him angry. There are many verses from the Bible like that and worse. Yet there are many good lessons and morals to which we should all aspire. Also, it is all in your interpretation. As far as banning the Bible, well I have never favored censorship, and I never will.

The Bible does not fit into one category of literature per se. You have the Poetical, Psalms, proverbs, the historical, the legal, the prophetical and so on. If you are referring to the violence depicted in the OT keep in mind that these are historical accounts which often included a military history and hence by virtue of THAT type of writing the inevitable bloody events depicted. If you were pressed to find “hate” in there then you would probably be looking in to the legal writings of Leviticus and Deuteronomy which often included severe penalties against racial and cultural assimilations and in that sense, you could say that it is one of the most racist based legal documents in all of history.

Oh please!!! How old are you? The Bible teaches love, even more than we actually do it. You would do well to read the whole thing before you put questions like this on here.
Jesus gave His life for you, if you don't like it, don't bother with accepting salvation, or with reading the Bible, it is only for those who want it, you are free to walk away. Leave the rest of us alone.
No, it should absolutely not be banned, anymore than should all the stupid questions and answers on Y.A! This is America, if you ban one, next to go will be the right you wanted to keep. No one is trying to ban you from talking like you do...
What year are you stuck in? Since when have you heard about a witch being burned? I'm not talking about those who do things in the name of God, but I'm talking about a real Christian who follows the (Old Testament) "Thou shalt not murder," and the (New Testament) ..."love thy neighbor as thy self..." rules. Read the whole thing, and put it into context. You can take a few words here or there and prove just about any point, but that is narrow-minded.

God hates lies and God hate the deceptions of the devil today. You cant say the New Testament is hate because it only shows to be against that which is false and not from God which is good. I would "hate" to see any child follow a bunch of lies which the bible is not. The old Testament is simply demonstration of how a Holy God will judge and evil man for his rotten sin. I am glad that God is a just God that judges evil and that is the only time in the bible you see God doing these things is to judge evil mans sin.

The Bible also says rapists and murderers should be put to death...and it's not murder, it's justice. When God says something is wrong and must be punished it isn't up to you to decide if God's right or wrong.
I'm quite familiar with the New Testament, and I've somehow missed all the "hatful" (your spelling) messages.
No amount of ranting will make the Bible "hate literature"...and the Check Spelling feature on Y! really does work...give it a shot some time.

well you have to understand that times change.. and Christianity was forced upon some pagans earlier in time.. so to outlaw withes and their craft was a very hateful thing to do but necessary to force people into a certain belief system
However, it supports a very positive message in the world of today and that message is to love one another for who we are... to respect each other's beliefs but keeping our own
i highly doubt that any religion seriously supports hate

It looks like You been blinded by the Devil or Satan. I suspect You don't believe in the works of the almighty Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for the sinners of the past and present and the future. Jesus Christ died on the Cross and on the third day he arose and rolled the stone away to conquer Death, Hell and
the Grave. If You continue to believe just that then your doomed to destruction and Hell in the end of life here on
Earth as you will have known it.

I'm going to have to agree with ninety percent of what people have already posted: you have no clue what you're talking about. Christianity is one of the most tolerant 'religions' there are.

Go ahead Adolph. Get your brown shirts out to round up all of the bibles and whatever else you disagree with and have yourself a good ol' fashioned Nazi book-burning party.
While you're at it why don't you round up the spreaders of such non-PC literature and send them into stadiums to be torn apart by wild animals.
It's all been done before, but that's OK. Maybe you can succeed where Nero and Hitler and Mao and Stalin couldn't.
Good luck hate monger.
