I have a very serious question so please no smart answers. My dog had some puppies bout a week and a half ago. Well only 3 of them lived so we are doing everything to try and keep them alive. The mother is very weak so we have been letting her go run around at night for about 30 minutes while the puppies sleep. We decided to start bottle feeding the puppies(with goat milk) tonight and when my fiance and I left to go into the kitchen to get the bottles my uncle came in drunk. He went and picked up one of the puppies and gave it some beer. He was about a cap full. Anyways my fiance walked in and bout beat the you know what out of him. My question is do you think that the puppy will be ok, if not what do you think I need to do. Please help me. thanks.

We took the mother to a vet and they told us to start feeding the puppies and let the mother run around like she used to for a day or two than come back.
thanks yall again.

don't feed them goats milk you should be feeding them lactol which is a supplement to the mothers milk. This can also be given to the mother to boost her immune system and make the milk healthier for the puppies the puppy should be ok but keep a close eye on it.But do take the mother out for some one to one time when the puppies are asleep and give her some full on attention when your with her.Give her praise, comfort her let her know that everything is alright.I strongly advise that you give the mother lactol as well as the pups because that definitely will make her stronger there is ingredients in the specifically designed to do so. Good luck with your mother and her puppies but please take my advise i know what i am talking about.

Just as it can in a human, alcohol can definantly harm a puppy... especially one that young.
No matter what breed it is, the pup is still small and can potentially become ill.
If I were you, I'd call a vet or an animal hospital to see what they think. Theres no need to drive out to see one (especially at this hour) until you know for sure somethings wrong. You may have to force purging by making it throw up, though don't try anything until you get a professional opinion.
If you're still not sure, please call the Animal Poison Control Center, available 27/7.
(888) 426-4435
There is a $55 fee, though it also includes follow-up phone calls and will occassionally fax you some extra information.
Good luck, and let us know how things go.
[edit;] Aww... Pits! -squeals- I hope they do alright. Such good dogs. =[
Glad to hear the beer won't effect him too much. Keep us updated.

What a very stupid man, but calm yourself, the hop that makes the beer may give your puppy the run's as its so young but after a day or too will be fine keep a particular eye on this one, any change take it to the vets, but that small amount of beer as the vet as already said should not harm the puppy.

Wow, I would beat the h*ll out of that moron too, and forbid him from coming over again. Can you take the puppy to the vet? There are ways to cause them to throw up if it is bad for them as in poisonous, but he may need to sleep it off. I would call an area ER and ask if they think it is serious, they can sometimes give a little guidance. I hope your dog is spayed so this doesnt happen again. Good luck.

WOW.. One thing.. I would give them milk replacer rather than the Goat's milk.. I would give MOM the goat's milk to help her produce good quality milk, but supplement the puppies with the milk replacer..
I have never known anyone to give newborn puppies beer.. I don't even know what to say.. I have to think that it likely won't hurt... BUT if they are already not doing so well... I can't see that it would be good for them at all..
I am stunned that someone would do something so stupid and irresponsible.. Do you need help digging a big hole out back for his body???
I would seriously call the vet and ask them about the beer.. Unless someone here has beer / newborn experience.. Which I highly doubt.. Good luck.. Get rid of the idiot uncle..

Yeah the pup should be alright. You should go to the vet to get some calcium supplements for the mother to help her regain her strength. The pup might get a little bit of the runs that should be it. No worries. Supplements for momma and keep the uncle away and you should be good. Good luck.

What breed of dogs are these?? If they are a smaller breed like a chihuahua you may have a problem. If they are larger breed puppies like a lab I'm sure that the pup will be ok. Call your vet to find out what they think you should do. Good luck

We have pits. We also have 6 week old pups. They should be fine. Start them on some canned dog food also to supplement the milk. We did this and are puppies are great. Has the mom been wormed recently?

You might want to take it to the vet. But only if it is ABSOLUTLEY neccecary. I know of an idiot who got their dog DRUNK and it was fine. This is a puppy so if you notice that it is acting weird and throwing up and just has a totally different attitude then you should take it to a vet.

My Dad has given little sips of beer to my dogs, I think it (in small quantities) can be good for them (my doggies are healthy and energetic), however my dogs are full grown. So what i think you should do is keep an eye on the puppy, calling the vet was a good idea, and just give the puppy some time to get it out of its system. Normally i would not recommend giving beer to a puppy (especially not if it's sick), but i don't think it will be fatal.
