"Nobody can teach you love. Love you have to find yourself, within your being, by raising your consciousness to higher levels. And when love comes, there is no question of responsibility. You do things because you enjoy doing them for the person you love. You are not obliging the person, you are not even wanting anything in return, not even gratitude. On the contrary, you are grateful that the person has allowed you to do something for him. It was your joy, sheer joy. Love knows nothing of responsibility. It does many things, it is very creative; it shares all that it has, but it is not a responsibility, remember. Responsibility is an ugly word in comparison to love. Love is natural. Responsibility is created by the cunning priests, politicians who want to dominate you in the name of God, in the name of the nation, in the name of family, in the name of religion -- any fiction will do. But they don't talk about love.

On the contrary, they are all against love, because love is unable to be controlled by them. A man of love acts out of his own heart, not according to any moral code. A man of love will not join the army because it is his responsibility to fight for his nation. A man of love will say there are no nations, and there is no question of any fight"

You are wise beyond your years. YA needs more talk of love, and especially here in "Religion and Spirituality."

OMG I love this quote! Who is Osho? I've never heard of him. But wow :) If only I had been able to find these words to say what I feel :)

I completely agree :) I think love is very selfish in so many ways because it allows us to find happiness where others see only responsibility and obligation. A deed motivated by love is neither kind nor noble. It is motivated by the honest desire. We do it out of pleasure :)

Partly correct, partly not. It is true that you do not create an obligation by offering love, but that does not mean that you cannot hope that it will be returned. The notion about responsibility, however, is completely off base. Responsibility is created by no one; you are responsible for yourself even if not for anyone else. You may choose to accept responsibility for your family, for the community, and for the state, because you can see the benefits of doing so. Or, you may not.

To understand love you must understand God. God IS love itself. There are three types of love. 1. Is Eros-meaning "erotic love". That's more of a sexual love between to married people. It's not real love. 2. Is phileo-this type of love is brotherly love. A love you might have for your country or your next door neighbor. Again, this is not real love, but a form of love nonetheless. and 3. agape-This is the type of love that God has and offers to us. It's not sexual, it's not brotherly, it's real, unconditional love that can never be earned. It's a sacrifice. Love of this sort is a decision. It's willing to endure anything for the sake of the beloved. Just like how God incarnate gave His life for ours. It's agape love.

Love loves everyone and hates everyone at the same time. Love is devoted to everyone there is, agreeing with them on everything they hold dear and hating all who they hate.
