Is masturbation considered a sin? Where in the Bible does it talk about it?

Alot of people believe it is...but I don't. I have searched and ther is no verse that actually states that it is...but I am quite sure that someone will find a verse and manipulate it's actual meaning. God Bless...oh and if anyone actually knows of a verse that states it as a sin...please let us know :)

It says in Gen 38:9-10 But Onan was not willing to have a child who would not be his own heir. So wheneverhe had intercourse with his brother's wife, he spilled the semen on the ground. This prevented her from having a child who would belong to his brother. But the Lord considered it evil for Onan to deny a child to his dead brother. So the Lord took Onans life too.
God killed Onan because he refused to fullfill his obligation to his brother and to Tamar. Not because he spilled the semen (that was part of it...but it still does noot say that masterbation is a sin.)

It is not specifically called out as a sin anywhere in the Bible. There is a story in the Old Testament about a man named Onan who deliberately wasted his "seed" upon the ground rather than impregnate his wife. An understanding of the patriarchal Jewish society of the time reveals this to be a scheme to keep an inheritance for himself rather than share it with a son, but it has long been used as an example of the evil nature of wasting one's seed. How they would make that apply to female masturbation, I haven't the foggiest.

"By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action." "The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."

Masturbation is mentioned one time that I know of. But, it neither is for or against it. However, the principle is this, masturbation is usually causes by lustful thoughts. Lust is what makes masturbation bad.

GOD bless

Love making was made for your spouse not to be done alone, for selfish gratification.

Will find you scriptures. Also, you can domage a future relationship with you spouse to be by becoming accustomed to self-pleasure. it really is a form of infidelity.

No, it is not sinful, but it can be societally unacceptable. And it should be kept private for that reason. Mum's the word.
