Ha, ha, that's the age old lie of the pseudo christian church. You are chosen, you are not the one who chooses.

Had you truly been born again, you would recognize that God deserves all praise, honor and glory, you would fall to your knees and bless His holy, name. You would most assuredly not be taking any credit for His work in you, nor would you have any pride about it, for you would know it did not come of your own effort.

When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

You would get applause if you recognize that fact, at least, from me.

*********
It grieves me often to see poor souls that have a zeal for God and a desire of eternal welfare, kept captive through the power of lying teachers who are themselves deceived into a false, and outward worship and service of God. They have many endeavors for mortification of sin, but an ignorance of the righteousness of Christ and the work of the Spirit. If God ever shines in their hearts to give them the knowledge of His glory in the face of His Son Jesus Christ, they will see the folly of their present way.

No you should not expect applause, and if you live right you won't get it. The world loves its' own, and ye are not of the world, so they won't love or applaud you. There is a parable (story) Christ told in Luke 18:9:14. When you read it you will learn that the Pharisee or religious man exalted himself, while the publican or sinner did not. Jesus said: ..."for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased: and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." So humble yourself, and wait for God to exalt you. I see from some of the responses you are being led in the wrong direction already, study to show yourself approved, don't let anyone steer you to any websites, religious leaders so-called, or any such thing. I would tell you get a bible, and read.

There is a party in the heavens ... but here on earth, well, maybe some giant smiles, handshakes, applause maybe or pats on the back from others who have had the same experience. :) On the flip side, it's time for you to buck up and understand that a lot of people will become cynical, scoff at you and even persecute you. On this planet, depending on where you live, you might just have to keep it very, very quiet if you value your life. I say, it's about time! Keep up the good quest.

Well I would like to congratulate you. It's the best decision you could ever make. As far as expecting applause, well I guess you could from most Christians and as someone else who answered a question stated, the Bible say the the angels are rejoicing in heaven.

Happy Birthday, my future friend! The angels in heaven are having a party in your honor.

Some people will be happy for you; some won't. The important thing is that you have now been made alive in Christ, and that pleases God very much.

Someday all Christians will know each other in heaven, so even though our lives are intersecting only briefly in this artificial environment (by which I mean the Internet) here on earth, someday we will all be friends and family. I look forward to one day getting to know you.

For the here and now, find a good local church to attend (if you don't already have one), because you need to be connected with the body of believers for continuing spiritual growth and support. Try out several different ones and pray for God's guidance as to which He wants you to attend.

There is a great variety in styles of worship, congregation size, additional ministries available, child care, etc. The important thing is that they teach God's Word as truth and that you feel the church is alive with God's Holy Spirit.

In addition to that, you may find certain Christian teachers that you like to listen to on the radio or watch on t.v. One that I particularly enjoy is Joyce Meyer Ministries: http://www.joycemeyer.org/

Here's a helpful site to look up Bible verses as well: http://www.biblegateway.com/
They have advice on reading through your Bible: http://www.biblegateway.com/resources/readingplans/
or you can probably get a Bible reading guide (so you can keep track of what chapters you have read) at your local church.

Congratulations and God bless you!!!

Ok screw the above answer. Yes you should! Give yourself a nice pat on the back and tell the world. I got baptized when i was 6 years old and i told EVERYONE. It is something you should be proud of. (dont expect much actual applause these days) but consider yourself a better person now!

If people of the world aren't applauding you, know that the Lord is very proud of you. Now that you have taken this important step in your life also know that things aren't going to get easier for you. This is where the test come in at. Just know that the devil has to get permission from the Lord before he tries to cause turmoil in your life. It's up to you if he succeeds. The Lord will put no more on us than we can bare. I'm proud of you and your decision. God Bless!

If you have received the Spirit of Christ by faith you have done well, but now you must learn "what manner of spirit ye are of"..............

"If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose."
Philippians 2:1-13

Maybe not applause, but Salvation for eternity!! And I am very happy for you --welcome to the family of God. Also, when someone comes to The Lord, the angels in Heaven rejoice!! (biblical). See, all of this is far better than applause.
