hey im going to college soon and i have a 19" lcd with VGA and is there a way to use a vga to rca adaptor and plug it into my dvd player? or any other suggestions? thanks!

NO such animal....the signals are different enough to not make it feasible....

Yes you can.

There are a number of "RCA to VGA" converter boxes available. For example, if you search amazon.com for a "GRANDTEC GVC-1000 " you can see what I'm talking about. There are also TV tuners with video inputs designed to output VGA signals such as the "Kworld KW-TV1440RNB" ($50 at tigerdirect.com) that would probably be a better choice for you.

If your computer has a DVD drive, you can use it as a DVD player and not bother with a separate DVD player. Your computer probably already has the software on it to do the job, if not, a freeware program called "VLC" (www.videolan.org/vlc/) will play them.

A third option would be to put a TV tuner card with video inputs on your computer. That way you could use your monitor as a TV, DVD display, and use it as a DVR.
