i'm not looking for opinion, i'm really needing some solid answers before i can make any decisions. thank you

Do the reserves still do the regular 3 month boot camp?

What do you make in boot?

What is the pay for reservists as an E1?

What is the likelihood that new recruit reservists will be deployed for a tour?

Any advice for a 25 year old man married looking at Marine reserves?

Guess what, I am a Marine Reservist (27). Bootcamp is still 3 months. You have to understand one thing about being a Marine. You are trained to fight wars. That's what we do. We are the best of the best. Before signing any contract think about that cause guess what... Reserves do fight in war. I just got back from the Al Anbar province recently.

As for pay you'll make at least 1500.00 a month in boot maybe a little more.
However, if you have college credits you'll be promoted at the end of boot automatically to PFC. Make sure you get that in wrting from your recruiter though.

Just remember not trying to scare you off but as a Marine you will see Iraq if it continues. Good luck to you! Semper Fi

Yes there is regular 3 month boot camp 10 days leave then MCT then MOS school. After your done with that you report to your reserve unit. As a Pvt i think you make roughly 125 per drill weekend ( i kinda never looked at my pay then) but by the time you get to your unit you'll probably be an PFC. Deployment depends on your unit, One of the guys in my unit came in just in time to be deployed; so as soon as you check into your unit and your unit is deployable then you can deploy. It also depends if your unit just went then you probably wont be going any wear for about a year or two.( my unit was deployed 2 years ago and we're going back this summer). If you want to be in the reserves just think that you will deploy at some point, if you dont like that idea please dont join, i wouldnt want you to become one of those Marines that makes up things to try to get out of a deployment. Thats what reserves do prepare in the civilian world to deploy at any time.
