yes, just make sure you have all the dogs up to date paper work. Proof of their vaccinations and good health is like our passport. Also depending on the country you may need special travel certification. Ask the airline you're using and they should be able to tell you about any special regulations you should be away of.

I can't imagine that you would want to leave a loved pet behind while you went back to your own country for 2 to 3 years. When and if you saw your pet again, it would no longer be your pet but the pet of whomever took care of it while you were gone. That isn't fair to the pet either way. If you leave it, then it will have to learn to adjust to another owner. Once it does, then you come back and take it away from that owner and since it can't remember you, it will have to get used to yet another owner, or you all over again in other words. I suggest you do the necessary things to take it back home with you so everyone is happy. It will only be on a plane for a few hours of discomfort rather than 2 to 3 years.

Sometimes the goverment can be strange. I have actully encountered situations like that. They really won't let you back sometimes with your pet unless you have been in the country for so long or even be a citizen. But usully not. Good luck!
P.S. nice breed of dog!

Oh yeah. Dogs love to travel with their owners. Just make sure you absolutely do not send him/her with the baggage! I've experienced that and had an animal go into shock from it all. They relax so much better when they're carry on.

Yes, it is fine. People travel on airplanes, by cars, and by boat with their pets all the time. They even do it a few times a year if not more.
