Depends on the brand... frontline and advantage are waterproof and rub-proof as soon as they are dry to the touch. The grocery store ones rub off more, and are less reliable. I'd suggest you wait at least 24 hours after applying Frontline or Advantage before you let your cat in bed, to be sure you don't end up with eggs or larvae in the bedding (eww gross, right?). The grocery store stuff (hartz, sargents, zodiac) doesn't work at all, so I wouldn't let the cat in bed at all if that's what you used... unless you want flea eggs and larvae in your blankets and mattress.

You can sleep with him. You just might get some flea bites. The medication will take 24-48 hours to take full effect and have your kitty flea free. You might not want to have him sleep with you if the medication is still fairly wet or moist since it is not good for it to be on your skin.

It's fine for him to sleep in the bed with you although until the fleas are dead they might transfer onto you. Most likely they are about to die if they had come into contact with the medication so you probably don't have to worry about that.

Well, the main ingredients in most flea meds. will make humans sick with too much contact in the first 24 hours. In the Greenhouse industry I would have my pesticide spray license taken from me for letting any one near these pesticides immediately.
So for your safety, not kitties, sleep separate for24 hours.
But...That being said, the insect diseases given to your animals if you did not use these dangerous medicines, well, they would make your animal sicker and soon closer to death, than the dangerous pesticides ever will!

I put advantage on my cat once and she rolled over, like putting her head upside down like cats will do, and a lot of the medicine leeched off onto the sheet she was laying on. After that I would put her into the bathroom for a few hours when I put on advantage to discourage her from laying down on fabric where it could leech off. I called bayer corporation, they make advantage, and they said to re apply it. I know a lot of people will loose it over that but they assured me that it was safe to do, and a vet told me the same thing, apparently advantage is just that mild or safe.

Yes, by all means let your kitty sleep with you. It will not interfere with the medication.

its ok if the medication is dryed. But if it is still wet, make him sleep at the bottom of your bed.
