(Acts 10:34-35) God is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

Perhaps the questioner must be reminded that Jehovah's Witnesses are unique for their rejection of paganisms, use of God's personal name, and global preaching by every active adherent. No other religious organization can claim such purity of worship.

These facts about Jehovah's Witnesses are perhaps relevant to this question. The more one compares this Christian religion with others, the more remarkable it is shown to be.

1. Jehovah's Witnesses have no paid clergy. Yet they remain tightly organized with more than 6.5 million active Jehovah's Witness preachers (about 16 million associate themselves with the religion). Even fulltime preachers and workers at their branch offices are unpaid volunteers.

2. There is no elite class among Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the few 'anointed' among them enjoy no special privileges in their congregations on earth. An anointed person (one of those relative few with a heavenly hope) is not elevated above his fellow congregants in any way, and he may not even qualify for appointment as a simple 'deacon' or elder. There are no titles; EVERYONE is addressed as 'brother' or 'sister'.

3. No person benefits economically from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the 8 to 20 men who serve on their Governing Body receive simply room, board, medical care, and reimbursement for certain personal expenses according to the exact same provision as every other branch volunteer.

4. About a hundred men have served on Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body committee during the past 125 years or so. The vast majority of them have spent the vast majority of their adult lives volunteering for their organization's purposes, and the vast majority have died faithfully and near-pennilessly while still under their legal 'vow of poverty'.

5. Amazingly, Jehovah's Witnesses did not splinter as a sect from some other religion. Instead, a truly tiny but sincere group of bible students studied only the Scriptures to determine the will of God. Thus their religion remains absolutely independent of and not carrying the sins of Christendom's history, yet carries the authority of Christ's teachings.

6. Despite the distortions of anti-Witnesses, throughout their modern history Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to claim divine inspiration or infallibility for their teachings. They have pointed to the bible (and not any particular translation) as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. For over 125 years, their teachings have been presented as merely the results of sincere bible research by imperfect but godly humans.

Maybe your friend is a bit overzealous about telling you what he knows, if you knew something good that would benefit your friend, if you told him, would you not make every effort to tell him about what you know, that would help him?I'm sure you would, don't close off to him, it's obvious by most of your answers that you have got here so far that you won't get your answer from here, if you wanted to buy a good car and you wanted to find out the best points on one model from one manufacturer, would you go and ask a competitor? No I think not, for the competitor would bring out and even enlarge the bad points because he would want you to buy his model not his competitors model of car, right? It's just so with your question about why you should become a Jehovah's Witness it should not be directed to anti Witneses for they will tell you that Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult etc but the truth is that these poeple don't really know very much truth about the Witnesses, maybe you should ask this question to your friend, obviously he became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and he obviously he did so for a good reason, also when you ask him, ask him also to tell you slowly, because it's all a bit too much for you, maybe he is giving you too much information at one time, don't let that close you off he is only telling you about things because he cares about you, I did the same to one of my friends, not meaning any harm but it was too much for my friend and I didn't realize, But if you take in a little at a time you will benefit from learning the truth, take your time let it sink in, when a baby starts eating, it is not given a steak right away is it?It is the same with learning truths they need to be taken in slowly bit by bit in small quantities not large amounts, maybe your friend is a new Witness and is very much excited about knowing the truth, this may make him overzealous, tell him how you feel, and to slow down. He only wants to help you, talk to him tell him how you feel and why.

It would be wonderful if you could. They have very high standards and you cannot rip and tear and be one.
They expect you to be moral and love everybody.
They don't allow a bunch of stuff. Adultry, or not that I want to do that I don't. I mean I love my wife.

why is it that when it is a religion that your not in you call it a cult? that is so stupid they are not a cult. The business people in town are Jehovah's witnesses. They are nice and believe in obeying the law and stuff. They believe in a paradise earth and when you die your just dead.
No heaven or hell. That God will bring to ruin those ruining the earth. So we shouldn't ruin the earth.
They don't believe in killing people, or sucide.

There are some steps you will would desire to take finally. as with all decision a guy or woman has to make, particularly while it includes words to faith, regardless of the faith, I continually say to think of heavily approximately your decision. So pray with regard to the situation returned and supply it careful attention. someplace I suggested, that starting to be a Witness is a manner of existence. you're a Witness 24/7 no count what. you are able to not replace issues to slot your self. So make you particular are waiting for all of it. a million. start up a learn: you're a woman, so a sister ought to be the only accomplishing your learn. she would be your learn conductor and in actuality be the only you will sense maximum delicate with. She'll carry alongside somebody else on your learn. If something happens to her and he or she is unable to fulfill her obligations, somebody else will take her place. i'm going to additionally propose you're making observe of who she brings, see who you sense maximum delicate with and so on. 2. Attending conferences. 3. connect the Theocratic Ministry college. right here is the place you obtain what we call 'talks'. Your learn conductor will inform you extra approximately this. 4. replace into an unbaptized writer. it is the place you circulate living house to living house. i comprehend maximum human beings suggested they have been scared and so on. 5. Make a private assertion which you somewhat desire to be one in each of Jehovah's Witnesses. 6. Get baptized. it is in actuality the purely precise step - as quickly as you're baptized you have made a public assertion which you're one in each of Jehovah's Witnesses. warning: Please observe, and don't say no one instructed you:- *IF* you commit a extreme incorrect and you're unrepentant, then you definately are disfellowshipped while it comes to baptism, and bumped off as an unbaptized writer in case you're no longer baptized. Disfellowshipping is a extreme count - 7 million Witnesses immediately turn their backs on you. removal as an unbaptized writer - much less repercussions however some might make particular of their touch with you. in case you commit a extreme incorrect and you're repentant, you would be reproofed - publicly or privately. Publicly; an assertion is made to the congregation saying XY is on public reproof. Privately; no one knows. So there you have it. EDIT: Forgot to show. From once you learn how to the ingredient of baptism you are able to desire to make certain that your way of existence is a sparkling one. No immorality, no birthday celebrations, no trip celebrations, no drugs, no smoking, and so on and so on and so on.

I think you should ONLY consider being a Witness, By the way I am one, if you want to follow the Bible. You should ask this friend of yours questions, lots of them. You probably should go to a meeting or two, see what you think. Then decide for yourself if this is for you.

I personally am a Witness because I feel it important to strive to follow the Bible. This is me, not you.

As for your friend, one thing to consider is, is he what you consider a good person, is he a good friend. Then chances are he, at least in his mind, has your best interests at heart.

ask yourself what is important to you and then find out from all sources how they believe on those issues. (not just the JWs.. they're trained to tell you one version, not to play devil's advocate with their own religion).

for instance, I don't know your age, but if you're in high school and college is important to you, find out their stance on higher education as it relates to being a Jehovah's Witness. Are there any fields of study they do not fully approve?

How do you feel about your family? Find out their stance on what happens if you're cast out of their church (excommunicated/ disfellowshipped) if your family is also in the religion. You can lose your relationship with your family if this happens to you.. it happened to my husband and I.

What does it take to get cast out of their church? what does being "disfellowshipped" mean?

How do they feel about smoking and drinking and having friends outside the religion once you're part of it? What about holiday celebrations with your family? Is that important to you? What holidays will you be celebrating with them once you're a JW?

How much of your time must you commit per week to be a JW? find out how often they go to church, their study requirements..

What if you're seriously injured and needed an emergency blood transfusion? They discourage and disfellowship for taking whole blood transfusions. How do you feel about this?

Finally, research their dogma. Find out about the bible they use.

I'm against it, but.. I'm not you. This is how I'd go about making my decision.

My friend: QUESTION HIS BELIEFS. Do not blindly follow.

I have done a fair amount of research and my suggestion is DO NOT become a Jehovah's Witness (let me explain). They do not know what they are talking about. They are very close to cult status to be honest (although I'm sure their intentions are good).

Do some research into the history and formation of the Jehovah's witnesses. Specifically visit Catholic or even Christian Apologetics websites that address this issue and learn of the many inconsistencies in their logic. Then question your friend about them and watch him stutter.

Alternatively tell your friend to stop talking to you about it and that you aren't interested or stop hanging around him to show him you mean business.

Don't get me wrong, I envy their zealousness to preach, but what they preach, and the foundation of their beliefs is completely illogical, unreasonable, and way too inconsistent for any person with a reasoning mind to take note of.

As I said: Visit some Catholic or even Christian apologetics websites that deconstruct and destroy the foundation of their faith using reasonable, logical arguments and then question your friend, then watch him have no answer.

Whatever you do, DO NOT blindly follow him without questioning his beliefs thoroughly first - FOR YOUR OWN SAKE.

Obviously Jehovah witness doesn't feel right for you so that's okay. I think it's wrong for your friend to continue to talk to you about it and maybe convert you into his/her belief. Make it clear you have your own beliefs and if they are a good friend they will respect you and stop yakking about it. There are plenty of other things to discuss and have in common.

I have a reason, but I'm going to be very frank. If you were to become a Jehovah's Witness, we would then stop knocking at your door. You would gain ever lasting life. Ask your friend for further information.

Educate your self before making any life changing decision. JWs will tell you all about Armageddon, the death and devastation that will take place and only the righteous ones will survive this ordeal. What they actually practice is exactly the same as any other religion, cult or dogma. Convert people under the threat of punishment and the promise of reward. Their god is same like any other god; wrathful, vengeful, petty and cruel. Their belief system is full of controversies portraying god as both love and hate in the same package deal and much like their god they talk about love but that’s all they do…talk talk..bla-bla-bla.
Remember, you are a free will and if you choose to submit your free will to anybody then let it be the True God, the God of love and allowance, unity and freedom because above all the true God respects free will more than anything in this universe. Contrary to that, JWs require complete and utter submission to their interpretation of god and any argument on their belief system will sent you to the council of elders for further handling. They will be all over you in every moment of your life, scrutinizing, judging, asking questions and making suggestions, enforcing rules and regulations thus causing you a mental and spiritual suffocation.
