Yes, you can completely skip your period by skipping the last weeks worth of pills ("sugar pills") and starting a brand new pack.

In fact, some women do this on purpose right before they go on vacation or have something important planned like a wedding. This way, they can completely skip their period and not have to worry about it till next month.

And don't worry, it won't hurt you or harm you in anyway! It's completely fine to do it every now and then. There are even birth control pills that are designed to have fewer periods, like Seasonale.

I found this article on the Mayo Clinic Website:
"It's possible to prevent your period with continuous use of any birth control pill. This means skipping the placebo pills and starting right away on a new pack. Some evidence suggests an advantage to this type of pill regimen. By continuously taking the pill, you prevent hormonal fluctuations that are responsible for bleeding, cramping, headaches and other discomforts associated with getting your period. However, you're at greater risk of breakthrough bleeding — bleeding between periods. Continuous use of your birth control pills works best if you're taking a monophasic pill — with the same hormone dose in the three weeks of active pills. If you're taking a triphasic pill — with a different hormone dose each week of the active pill phase — using them continuously carries a much higher rate of breakthrough bleeding.

You may find continuous use of birth control pills a convenient way to avoid having your period during an important occasion or trip. Taking a monthly regimen birth control pill continuously is fine for about three months, but then you should plan on taking the placebo pills so that you'll have a menstrual cycle."

Good luck!

i'm a nurse and will tell you that yes you can skip the sugar pills and go directly to the other pack and skip your period this way. however, by doing this you will not shed the lining of your uterus(having your period). this is ok to do once in a while but not recommended to do all the time. you need to let your uterus shed it's lining to get all the "build up and junk' out of your system.

Because beginning manage does now not guard you from STDs. Only a condom can do this. It's quality that your gf is on beginning manage, as you're correct approximately it being extra powerful towards being pregnant. However oral beginning manage and different contraceptives, such because the beginning manage jewelry and photographs, DO NOT guard you or her from STDs. Pulling out/Withdrawing (some thing you decide on to name it) may be for the prevention of being pregnant, now not STDs. The handiest time it's reliable to NOT use condoms is while BOTH of you're monogamous and BOTH of you will have lately been checked for STDs and HIV/AIDS, and had terrible outcome certainly. Even if you understand you and your companion were monogamous, you will have to each be verified each and every 6 months simply to be certain. Remember that you do not ought to have intercourse to get HIV/AIDS, and the final factor you wish to do is provide your companion an STD.
