Sometimes when we are placed in unforeseen predicaments, we take desperate measures. I don't know you, but it seems you may be the type who don't like to ask for help; independent, use to doing things on your own, don't want to be a burden. It's ok to ask for help. Everyone needs help at some point or another. Tell your fiance your situation and go from there. It may hurt him to know that you pawned a gift from the heart instead of asking him for help. If he's unable to help ask how he'd feel if you temporarily pawned one of the items. When I find myself in these types of situations I pray. God always makes a way when you lean on him and truly believe. I would not tell you what I don't know. God Bless, take care!

Theoretically, once a gift is given to you, it's yours to do whatever you wish with it. People pawn things with good intentions of getting them back, but that doesn't always happen. I'm glad you didn't think of pawning the engagement ring. That would really hurt your fiance. He might even be hurt about the necklace, but may understand because of your circumstances. Do you have any other source of money? Do you have a job? Would your parents loan you the money? What about your fiance? Maybe you could get a loan from him. But if you do borrow money, be sure to pay it back.

I would look to anything else I had that I could flat out sell before pawning things that are so special to me. Pawning is never a good deal, is it?
And meanwhile, could you take on an extra job to get your financial house in order? Being in debt and "dead broke" isn't a great way to strat a life together. Check out some of Dave Ramsey's books (at the library!) and www.daveramsey.com for some good ideas to help you attain financial peace.

Ask him if he can help you out. If not, pawn the necklace and don't tell him unless you can't get it back. Do you have a checking account? Can you get a payday loan instead. Check Masters is a good place to go.

NO WAY,what a way to start a relationship,if he ever found out that would be "THE END".
Talk to the man and explain the situation,if he is a caring person he would try to help you out.
How come you are in this state anyhow?
