I am very new to gun ownership. I have some rounds from a friend that is labeled .38 super. I know I can fire .38 rounds in a .357. Questions is can I fire the .38 SUPER rounds in the 357 revolver safely or can they only be fired in the auto?

NO...They are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE! 38 Super cannot be fired in anything but a semi-auto 38 Super handgun!

The .38 Super and .38 Special are totally different cartridges. Just because the bullet may be the same, that doesn't mean anything else about the cartridge is. Also, it's not a good idea to shoot +P+ ammo in an old revolver like that. The pressures of these loads exceed what is safe in an old revolver.

Like everyone says,no.
.357 and .38 super are not interchangeable.
.357 is a staight case with a rim designed for revolvers.
.38 super is a rimless case designed for semi automatic pistols.

Nope, at least not without a different cylinder. I would NOT recommend you trying moon clips to hold them in place as the .38 Special/.357 Cylinder is slightly wider than the .38 Super/.9mm bullet diameter.

The .38 Super is proprietary to pistols chambered for that caliber. Always use the correct ammo in your gun.

Best.

NO!!!
38 Super is a rimless round with a .383" base diameter, 357 mag a rimmed round with a .379" base diameter. There bay be somebody somewhere who's made a revolver that would shoot 357 or half-moon-clipped 38 Super, but I bet there are at least two reasons it would be unsafe in your gun, even with generous tolerances in your cylinder bores.

38 super is a rimless cartridge and the 357 is rimmed; never the twain shall meet in the chamber of a revolver.

No. Not unless you have a wish to go through the rest of your life with only one hand. The headspace is different from the back of the brass to the top edge of the brass. The bore is a different calibre.
