wish there was some word I could give you that was of better content -- but -- truth is -- a lot of the Guard units that have been deployed have suffered through long deployments only to be returned to yet longer duties again and again in the thing that is going on now !!
There is talk --- but yet, still, talk -- of bringing THIS thing of long deployments backed by yet longer re-deployments that are wearing a lot of our military down by simply drawn out, unending duty !!
And, when it comes to your schooling -- this is something that the military has no qualms about whatsoever -- they call you -- you go --- school -- family --- job --- what ever -- that goes on hold while you do your mandated duty !!
All the best to you -- by-the-way
those that serve deserve -- our love and appreciation and our words of encouragement !!
I was in Vietnam, myself,so, for all you younger dudes and dudettes in uniform today -- hand salute !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of guardsmen from the Silver State have been deployed, going back to the UN Peace Enforcement Mission of 1991 where Iraqi forces had to be expelled from Iraq. In fact, it was the 81st MP Company of the Nevada Guard which wrote the current Army Field Manual on operation of prisoner of war camps.
I've spoken with some of the Nevada Guard members who have been deployed to the Iraqi Theater of Operations. Most were involved in convoy escorts between Kuwait and various forward operating bases in Iraq, with deployment periods of 6-9 months. We've lost some. 30 Nevadans have died in Operation Iraqi Freedom. 420 members of the Army National Guard have died. But, to date, only one of those deaths was a member of the National Guard from Nevada.

I am an ARNG soldier my first deployment I was pulled out of my unit and out of college. Our Deployment was 14 months start to finish. However my husbands unit has been told that their deployment will only be 12 months per a new regulation put out by congress for guards men. I am not sure what reg it is as I have not seen it.
If you are a contracted ROTC cadet you are exempted from deployment till you graduate and finish OBC. Good Luck and God Bless

You can, (and probably will) be deployed for up to 15 months in theater, 18 months total. If you are in school, and you get deployed, notify your dean of studies that you are being activated, and they will grant you a Military leave of absence. Most schools are very supportive of our citizen soldiers, and will work with you.

If your not in the ROTC your probably going to get a normal Army deployment. I believe in the Army its about 14 months tops. I'm not 100% though i know that their deployments are the longest.
