Now, my cousin has this service dog named Honey, and we're trying to tell my mother, who states that because she may not be able to get an apartment that allows 'pets' she can't take the dog with her, that those places will, in fact, allow Honey into the building. Which here is right, guys? Will the Service dog, which as my cousin states is deemed more as an alternative source of medicine than a pet, be allowed in a place that does not allow pets or not?

The key is having the dog be legally trained, certified and registered as a working service dog. If the dog is legally certified and registered, then the dog can accompany your mother into retails stores, restaurants, and will be allowed into apartments or other housing that do not normally allow pets. Most certified and registered service dogs where a green vest, so that people know that the dog is working. Rules, regulations and certification requirements vary from state to state.

I trained my Wheaten Terrier, MJ, to be a service dog and she visits hospitals and hospices in an effort to cheer people up.

I believe the law is that an apartment has to take a service animal. If your cousin is disabled and needs her dog to function, the dog is not a pet. And I know that not all dogs are seeing-eye. There are hearing-ear dogs and seizure dogs.

If Honey is allowed in buildings that normally do not allow dogs, she is most certainly not a pet.

Most places do not allow pets because they ruin carpet or scratch walls, but once they meet the service dog and see that it is well behaved I think most places would allow it even if they typically do not. They may still want to charge more per month or they may have her put down an extra deposit on the dog.

They have to allow service animals - just like shops and restaurants have to allow them. Denying entry for a service animal is the equivalent of denying entry to that person, which is discrimination based on disability.

In maximum states, the regulation reads that a provider animal can circulate everywhere that its proprietor can circulate. that incorporates eating places, hospitals, public transportation, and housing the place animals does no longer commonly be accepted. you may analyze the guidelines of your state, yet loose get admission to for provider animals/instruction manual canines is the norm for usa. the clarification i know it incredibly is with the aid of fact i replaced right into a seek and rescue ok-9 handler for 9 years, and the comparable rules word to SAR canines. i ought to have legally taken my German shepherd right into a cafe on a similar time as I ate a meal or had him accompany me on a city bus, in simple terms as long as I had my unit identity with me.
