You have the SAME LEVEL of HD with either one, however the HDMI is a "high bandwidth" connection and can produce better ACTION scenes IF your Tv is an LCD, DLP, or plasma TV....there is little lag in processing the video, compared to Component Y Pb Pr signals....

You may not see any difference between the Two, but there is...and it's subtle.....

As for SCART....I thought that was a Low Definition Connection. Have they UPGRADED it to provide a Digital, rather than an ANALOG signal yet??

SCART has alway been Analog, just like the Component input, but I don't think they made it capable of doing HD.....

i'm guessing that you have a panasonic dvd, yes you can connect using the yp connection but will not be HD, for that you need a HD source such as blu ray/HD-DVD or sat receiver or xbox 360, HDMI is the best connection by far using only one cable.
But you still need a HD television. Scart is ok for quality, composite is the worst quality(yellow), best connections are ypbpr( component) followed by HDMI for true digital signals!!. Its all i use now.

YPbPr is likewise popular as element. it is likewise Analog. it may raise 1080p HDMI is digital and would boost 1080p. digital is greater suitable to Analog. The motive your television says 1080i is pondering the undeniable fact that i've got self belief that the show decision is somewhat 720p. the determination is 1280x720 on a show it rather is 1366 by 768. those instruments could get carry of 1080i as that's what's broadcast over the air. Use HDMI. Set your BluRay to 720p

The component cables will be just fine with the DVD recorder. Just make sure when you get a HD package via your cables/satellite provider, the box has HDMI inputs.

HDMI is digital while YPbPr is analog (color and brightness). Other types of analog signal are RGB (red-green-blue).

Both analog and digital signal can be HD (high def) and/or SD (standard definition.) SD is 480 lines while HD is 720 lines or above.

Unless your DVD is BlueRay or HD-DVD, then there it is not HD, thus your DVD is SD (standard definition). Just plug the analog YPbPr into the TV or the RCA will work fine, albeit no HD.

Yes, YPbPr is slightly better than scart RGB and definitely better than scart composite.
