My family came to the U.S. from a lot of places - various lines on my father's side go back to England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland, as well as France, Germany and Switzerland. My mother's side of the family also comes from the U.K. (mostly from Scotland and Ireland), and the Netherlands. I also have Native American ancestry from both sides; Cherokee and Chickasaw from my father's side, and Chickasaw/Choctaw from my mother's side. There are also bits of Italian and Greek if you go back far enough. In short - I'm 100% American ;-)

My parents' ancestors (both sides) came from England and France. My Dad's side has been traced back way before Charlemagne became Holy Roman Emperor in France (one of my aunts said she'd traced it back to Adam and Eve, but couldn't find their marriage license. LOL), and he is one of my ancestors as are both Teddy and Franklin Roosevelt.
My mother's maiden name is Coston, and this family dates back to at least the 11th century in England (there is a town by the same name, where most of them lived, in Shropshire County), and they were listed in the DOMESDAY BOOK, a census taken by William the Conqueror in 1086. My grandfather always said the family was French, so since William came from the Normandy region of France I have always wondered if he had a mistress or a wife whose last name was Coston. :)

My dad's just Sicilian, my mom is English, Irish, Scottish, German, Canadian, Cree, and Dutch. We've traced my mom's family back to 1660 when they came to America from the Netherlands by way of England.
