I read that he gets an increase in pay if he's married but i also read that they do credit checks on the spouse. If my credit has been bad or behind. Why would it matter if he gets the increase.

If you marry someone in the military and you have physical custody of your children, then the military views those children as his responsibility. If you qualify for on-base housing, and IF there is a school on-base, then your children would be able to attend that school. However, many bases have downsized their available housing. Single servicemen typically live in barracks on base, until they reach a certain rank and qualify for off-base housing allowance. Married servicemen with children would be entitled to a larger off-base housing allowance, because they obviously need a larger space. That is the only increase in "pay" he would receive, though. He'll be paid a salary according to his E-rank... E-1, E-2, E-3 and so on. Getting married does not affect that base salary. However, it would entitle him to off-base housing allowance and the more people he's responsible for housing the more he'll get.

If you're shopping for a military man, be advised, many married enlisted men in the lower ranks still qualify for food stamps and WIC. It's certainly not the "high life"...

First of they guy above me is an idiot. No one is required to join the military, it's voluntary!!!

Once you are married your children will be treat just as if he was their father. They will have medical insurance. They will go to school based on where you live, whether that be on or off base. Once married you can get on the housing list at his permanent duty station or choose to live off base and collect BAH.
Hope that answers your questions:)

I'm guessing they are your children and will become his step-children. In order for them to be recognized as dependent children, he's going to have to adopt them. There is no category under the Federal laws which govern base privileges, medical care entitlements, etc. for step-children. You, however, will enjoy those privileges as his lawfully wedded wife.

Since they are step-children, They will have to mandatory serve in the ARMY when they turn 18 or 17 with your permission! to pay back the benefits that they will be receiving when you marry the soldier.
