Holy crap... so was I! I guess that means that we're the same age.
However, I beat all on irony:
However, we were doing reading comprehension at Apollo Elementary School. One of the two assignments we were reading and answering questions on was a short essay on rescues in space: special bubbles designed for re-entry and "space parachutes" if a landing craft failed before re-entry.

In my living room with a workers' compensation nurse interrogating me about my broken arm. I had the tv on at the time and had to tell her to stop questioning me because I couldn't believe what I was seeing and I wanted to hear what they were saying.

I was home. It was my sister's birthday...she died and I was remembering her and was sad. When I saw the explosion, I was devastated. I couldn't stop crying. When my son came home from school, he was very shaken. They had shown the news report to his class at school! I was quite angry about that. They kept showing the clip over and over. It was terrible.
