I'd like to know the breed of my grandmother's cat.

Please see photo: http://www.astro.princeton.edu/~lemaster/img/kitty.jpg

Thanks!

I think you might just have a the run of the mill moggie there.

There is definatelty NO siamese in that cat. Siamese are a pointed breed & they are also short hair! Ragdolls are also a pointed breed so ignore that idea too.

Its too dark of a photo to see the face real well but it doesn't look like it has a smashed in nose area like the persian so I don't think it is that. However, it has the body style of a persian and also of a Himilayan, except of course the Himilayan looks like a longs haired siamese cat and that is because you cross a persian with a siamese to get a himalayan and they usually keep the more stuck out noses but are still slightly pug looking. If the cat is an outcross, then you can actually have a throwback of the persian with the face of the himalayan. There is no such thing as an Angora cat any more. Years ago they were bred so much with other types of cats, that they became extinct. You could have a cat that isn't a breed at all because its bloodline has been crossed to many times with the basic domestic cat and there is no longer any purebred left in it. There are a lot of long black haired cats out there that fit that description and look like your cat too. Sometimes eye color can help identify a cat breed too. For instance, the Himilayan has blue eyes. My Chausie's can only have yellow or lime green eyes to be the accepted color for their breed. There are only a few breeds that produce the long haired fluffy look though and the fur on yours looks like persian if it indeed has some of that breed in it. There are black persians too, but they have to have a pug nose (smashed in looking face).

Where did you get a picture of my cat? I'm not kidding. Your picture is the spitting image of my Xena.

Xena is a Domestic long hair I rescued from a storm drain 10 years ago. A week later she presented me with 5 gorgeous kittens. We kept 2 of them but, neither are as beautiful as their Mama.

I really wish I knew. Its beautiful, it might have Siamese in it or it might be considered a domestic longhair. Not really a breed, you know it just randomly happened. I used to have a Calico and she had lots of litters and she had so many different looking cats.

The cat looks like it could be part Persian with some Siamese.
