Unless the TV specifically says it supports PAL, no it will not work, even with a set-top box.

Sell it and buy another one when you go home.

If you buy a NTSC TV here it will not work in a PAL region. NTSC is more coarse in the definition than PAL and the sound is not the same. The other way around you can use a PAL TV as monitor here - but you will not be
able to use the sound.
Furthermore the channels are most likely not going to be the same in West Africa as here.
If you do want to buy something here - buy a nice flat-screen monitor and use it with a local DVD/ VCR/Cable box here or there. That will work.
Another issue is the power supply. Everything here is 120VAC 60 Cycles (Hz) - and most countries overseas has 230VAC 50 Cycles. Check that whatever you buy is labeled as 110-230VAC 50-60Cycles (Hz) - then it will only be a question of changing the plug.
Good luck.

No it will not ....ATSC is a NORTH American Signal standard and PAL is a EUROPEAN standard....

That's like trying to get an FM radio to pick up AM Stations...
If it doesn't have an FM/AM switch it won't do it.....

So, you might consider buying one that has an ATSC/PAL switch, but you'll pay Double for it.....<> you can find one....
