TV Guy, but I DO play games. Not for hours upon hours, but perhaps for UP TO (rarely, but possibly) 3 hours at a time.

You would HATE watching an image burn all day long.....

You want the BEST of both worlds?
Sony just developed 120 Hz Refresh rate in their XBR4 models....it's also in some of the V and S series of TVs too....

They are ALL WAX-3 chassis sets.....

What does this do? It keeps the picture razor-sharp with Hi-speed action...so your GAMES don't look blurry when you're moving fast....
The Overall Color and Contrast on an LCD TV won't be a real problem, they are VERY VERY close to a PLASMA.....

In fact, I like the Anti-Glare properties of an LCD screen, the portability of LCD, the sharpness of LCD, the color rendition of LCD....and a lot more too....

And Plasmas? Well, they're HOT and they're heavy....the picture is no better than any of the newer LCDs, I really don't think they look any brighter either....

The image burn on plasmas is a myth. Basically, if your intentions are to try to mess up the tv than you will. Unless you are gonna have a movie paused for hours, you will get a burn on a plasma, but it will go away. For a plasma burning out of gas, after a few, no. Plasma/Lcds will last just as long as the crt models. If you take care of the tv, the tv will take care of you. Personally, I would go with the lcd over the plasma anyway,

Burning photos is a element of the previous for Plasmas.... I actually have a Hitachi Plasma and have actually frozen with the aid of demonstrate for greater effective than 10 hours yet no burn outs ensue. I very own all next gen consoles and that i think Plasmas are the terrific TVs to play those video games. I very own a Sony liquid crystal demonstrate in my different room and the final subject is that the refresh circumstances in LCDs isn't as rapid as Plasmas... This somewhat is a topic for me as each and all the video games have rapid action and the element leaves a ghosting on my liquid crystal demonstrate demonstrate (a mushy blur with the aid of fact the television would not refresh rapid sufficient)... it relatively is not an argument for people who've performed purely on LCDs, yet when I moved directly to a 40 two" Plasma, then the type irks the attention on LCDs This by no potential happens on a Plasma reason the refresh time is 2ms.... in spite of the actuality that the greater moderen LED LCDs have plenty greater effective refresh value, they're somewhat high priced (way above one thousand$). For a real gamer searching for a television 40" and above, I suggestion a Plasma specifically reason it relatively is greater value-effective and the refresh time is larger than LCDs. you need to purchase a 40" Plasma for the cost of a smaller liquid crystal demonstrate....

I have a 42" Sony HDTV, Bravia, and I will say , it's got lots of color + contrast. These all can be adjusted by the many options these TVs give you for picture preference. Plasma is a real problem maker now, all brands having troubles 2-3 yrs in, some after 1 yr.

If you don't play games, there is nothing to worry about plasma burn in.
Just be relatively careful the first 200 hrs of watching TV.
After 1,000 hrs or so, a plasma should behave like an old CRT TV.

plasma's can't be beat as far as contrast ratio, and that's the biggest key for fast moving video games.

plasma's are the better picture quality hands down. new plasma's usually include a feature that will rotate and move the picture by a single pixel. you cannot perceive this with your eyes, and this is one of the current burn-in prevention techniques.

i use that on my plasma (42" panny), and it is thoroughly imperceptible.

Better brands will have something built into them which will shift the image to keep the screen image from burning. But i cant remember what its called.
