If your TV has the right inputs you could use a VGA cable or DVI cable. Those are the plugs your computer uses. If not your computer would need a TV tuner card... if you already have one and it didn't work then you probably need a new one. You can find TV tuner set ups from around $30 to $300. I would suggest purchasing the most expensive one you can afford. The more they cost the better quality they are. Any Computer electronics store will have them... you could even check on EBAY.

See http://www.s-video.com/producttable.html for a chart of possibilities.

You would be more likely to get a good answer if you gave the model numbers for the laptop & TV. Even better if you discribe the A/V outputs on the laptop and inputs on the TV.

I've never seen a laptop with a RCA jack for video out; are you saying you tried to get sound to the TV using RCA cables and it didn't work?

You cannot connect VGA to DVI or HDMI...the signal is totally different.....

You would need VGA to VGA, HDMI to HDMI (or DVI) or Component to Component....

Some Video Cards/Laptops actually have S-Video and that works, but you have to get sound out of the LAPTOP to input into your TV set....

Believe me, if you don't have a Direct type of connection, they don't make any conversion cables that work....
