take your dog to your local vet or humane society. my black lab had this issue almost every summer. Theyll prescribe a cream for you to but on that will keep the flies away and heal the scars.
If they are very severe he'll get one of those dog hood things. Most of the problem is with the dog scratching and rubbing against the bites from the flies. If you can keep him indoors or at least in a dog house, that would help too.

Hi,
You can go to your local pet store and buy some stuff to either spray or rub on the dogs ears to keep flies off or..
Here is a homemade remedy for keeping flies off:
2 cups vinegar, 1 cup Avon Skin So Soft, 1 cup water, 1 tbsp. Eucalyptus oil, 1 tbsp citronella oil - Put in a spray bottle and spray dog's coat.
Hope this helped :]

There are several ointments for this. Sold at pet stores or farm co-op type stores. You do need to clean regularly with Betadine cleanser (any drugstore area) which is safe for any "wounds" on a dog or person. "Bag balm" is one we use and keep on hand. Also can be used on a nursing mom dog where pups have bitten too hard. It is a salve much like Vasoline but more healing.
If outside dog you must poop scoop the area really good in hot weather to keep down flies!! Scoop and hose the area down daily. Maybe some fly strips near area----

Vaseline. Flies can't get to the ears very easy. Keeping them in the house helps too.

You need to go to the pet store and get some "Flys Off " spray and keep it on his ears. Spray his body, too. If they are sore, clean them with a little peroxide, and put Neosporin on them.Hang fly paper in his area, and keep the poop and uneaten food cleaned up.If you can, bring him in the house during the day,at least, when the flies are at their worst.
