I make a living building and rebuilding service station and C-stores. The #2 reason for gas station explosions is people using cell phones. The #1 is people driving off with the hose still in their cars. So go ahead and talk it's good for my business but it maybe bad for your health and others around you. Just kidding PLEASE don't ever pump gas while using a cell phone, I even turn mine off while pumping gas.

I suppose some cell phones can help us build up a static electricity charge that could lead to a gas pump exploding.
It might also be like why not use phone when plane take off landing ... it can interfere with the electronics. Like this might be one way to change the gas pricing, which is a no no unless you work at the place.

He is right about the static, however they did prove that there is no way that could happen on myth busters, unless you are like smoking at the same time while stading in a puddle of gas.

The reason said was that cell phones are not intrinsically safe...
However, it is a bunch of bullsh*t...
they even did a show about this on Mythbusters... It got busted!
Added: I just saw the bull that Big Daddy is throwing at you!
Here is a link to the leading industry website ... you can read for yourself that his info is unfounded.
